Sri Shiva Ashtoththarashathanama Sthothram – Lord Narayana - Lyrics and meanings

The highly auspicious hundreds of sacred names of Lord Shiva was composed by Narayana Rishi, it has Anushtup as Chandhass, presiding deity is Sri Sadhashiva, Gauri Uma as Shakthi, and  it is recited to please Lord Sambasadhashiva.

Dhyanam –

I shall meditate upon supreme Lord Shiva who is serene, he resides on the highest mountain peaks, he has bluish throat, he is Lord of Lords,  he symbolizes Universe and its living beings,  he has the luster of crystal, he has three eyes, he is perceivable to the illustrious Yogis who always contemplate upon him, he is Shambhu who eradicates  miseries and sorrows of worldly existence, he is  Lord of the three worlds.


I shall meditate upon Lord Shiva, who is mighty Lord , he is Shambhu who is wielded in powerful weapon Pinaka, he is adorned in crescent moon on matted hair locks, he is Vamadeva who has unique eyes, he has attractive matted hair locks, he has reddish brown complexion, he is Shankara who is wielded in powerful trident and Khadvanga, he is beloved of Lord Vishnu, he is Shipivishta who has supreme radiance, he  is the Lord of Goddess Ambika, he is Srikanda who is beloved of passionate devotees, he is Bhava and Sharva as well, he is the Lord of three worlds, Shithikanda who has bluish throat,  he symbolizes auspiciousness, he is fierce, he holds Kapalam/skull, he crushed the pride of Kamadeva, he destroyed the pride of Andhakasura, he is Gangadhara who is adorned in sacred river Ganga on matted hair locks, he has Agni as eye on forehead, he has won over death, he is too compassionate, he has colossal form, he holds Parashu on one hand and antelope on the other, he has attractive matted hair locks, he resides on the highest peak of Mount Kailash, he is adorned in protective armor, he can be formidable, he is the destroyer of demons of Thripura, he has embodied as Vrisha, he is mounted on celestial bull, he is smeared in sacred ashes all over the body, he is fond of Samaganam, he represents swara, Thrimoorthi/Bhrama, Vishnu and Maheshvara, he is supreme Lord, he is Paramathma, he is omniscient, he has Soma, Soorya and Agni as eyes, he represents Haviss/offerings on the fire sacrifice, he symbolizes Yajja,  and Soma, he has mesmerizing five faces known as Sadhyojatha, Vamadeva,  Aghora, Thathpurusha, and Eshana, he is Sadhashiva, he has personified as  Vishveshvara, Veerabadhra, Gananatha, Prajapathi, he has golden virility, he is unconquerable/dreadful,  he is Gireesha who is Lord of mountains,  he is the Lord of Goddess Girija, he is blameless/sinless , he is adorned in venomous serpents as ornaments all over the body, he has great splendor, he is wielded in Mount Meru as bow, he is beloved of mountains, he is attired in skin of animal, he is the destroyer of the demons of Thripura, he has divine personified as Pramathadhipa/Lord of Pramathaganas, he has won over death, he has subtle form, he is omnipresent, he is Universal preceptor, he has sky as matted hair locks, he has great army of warriors, he has mesmerizing form, he is extremely valorous, he is Rudra who is the Lord of Bhoothaganas, he is firm, he accepts oblation from fire sacrifices, he is attired in directions as clothes, he has most magnificent form as Ashtamoorthi such as Sharva, Bhava, Rudra, Ugra, Bheema, Pashupathi and Mahadeva, he resides as soul in living beings, he represents Sathvik nature, he is pure, he is eternal, he eradicates  worldly bondage of the worshiper with his fierce weapon Parashu, he is Mrida, he is the Lord of living beings, he is Mahadeva, he is imperishable, he represents Hari, he symbolizes wealth and prosperity, he is not perceivable through senses,  he destroyed the Yajja of Dhakshaprajapathi, he is Hara who eradicates sins of the worshiper, he has thousands of eyes and feet, he is the provider of satisfaction in accomplishment of tasks, he is perpetual, he is Parameshvara.
