Banalinga Kavacham is highly propitious
hymn composed by Rishi SamharaBhairava,
it has Gaythri as Chandhass, Haum as Beejam ,
Hum as Shakthi, Nama: as keelakam,
presiding deity is Banalinga Lord Sadhashiva, it is recited to fulill all the
desires of the worshiper.
Rishi
Samharabhairava speaks “ I shall pronounce the sacred syllables of
Omkara, I shall earnestly pray to Lord Sadhashiva to protect my head, I shall
pronounce the sacred syllable Nama: I shall earnestly pray to Lord Sadhashiva
to protect my forehead, I shall earnestly pray to Lord Shiva wh symbolizes auspiciousness
to protect my throat, I shall pronounce
the sacred syllables of Kshadakshara and I shall earnestly pray to Lrod
Sadashiva to protect my chest areas, I shall earnestly pray to Baneshvara to
protect my waist areas, I shall earnestly pray to Lord Chandhrashekhara who is
adorned in crescent moon on matted hair locks to protect my thighs, I shall earnestly
pray to Vishveshvara who is the protector of Universe and its living beings to
protect my feet, I shall earnestly pray to supreme Lord Shiva who has embodied
as Linga to protect my all limbs. Oh! Kanthe,/beautiful woman, whoever reads or
listens to the above sacred verses praising the splendor of Banalinga, with
intense devotion and faith, would attain closeness to Lord Shiva, worshiper
would be relieved from all kinds of illnesses, depression, miseries and sorrows, worshiper would attain abundance
of wealth and grains, happiness and welfare with the grace of Banalinga.”
