Sage Shaunaka speaks “ Oh! Sutha, Oh! Mahaprajja/eminent one, who is profound
in all philosophies, kindly describe the highly propitious hymn praising the
grandeur of Goddess Thulasi which augments piousness of the worshiper.”
Sage Sutha speaks “ Oh! Saintly one, Oh!
Mahabhaga/illustrious one, I shall narrate the glorious Thulasi Sthavarajam to
you, Oh! Twice born, it is highly auspicious to witness the Thulsi shrub,
remembering or reciting or meditating upon Thulsi sthavaraja would remove all
the sins of the worshiper, ultimately it provides liberation from the repeated
births, it would protect the worshiper from the hell ‘Raurava’, Thulasi
sthavarajam was composed by Rishi Narayana, Anushtup as Chandhass, presiding
deity is Goddess Sri Mahalakshmi, it has ‘Sri’ as Beejam ‘Thu’ as Keelakam, and
La as Shakthi.”
I shall prostrate before supreme Goddess
Sri Thulsi, I shall pronounce the sacred syllable ‘Sri’ and offer salutation
with my heart, I shall pronounce the sacred syllable’Thu’ and offer salutation
with my head, I shall pronounce the sacred syllable ‘Lam’ and offer salutation
with my tuft, I shall pronounce sacred syllable ‘Syaim, and assume it as armor,
I shall pronounce the sacred syllable ‘Nam’ and offer salutations with the
three eyes, I shall pronounce the sacred syllable “Ma:’ and assume it as
Asthram, I shall offer salutation towards all directions.
Dhyanam –
Sage Sutha continues “I shall prostrate before
supreme Goddess Thulsi, who has four arms, she is decked in Shankha,
scriptures, Padmam, and Akshamala, she
is the source of piousness, she has emerged out of the milky ocean while
churning for nectar of immortality, she eradicates all the miseries, sorrows
and grief of the worshiper, she is the source of good fortune, richness,
wealth, prosperity, opulence, and all the auspiciousness, Oh! Thulsi, kindly protect us. She is highly prominent,
she has most pleasing personality, she is the female aspect of Lord Vishnu, she
has personified Thulsi, she has embodied
as Universe and its living beings, she undertakes essential functions of the
Universe, Oh! Thulsi, kindly protect us.
She is worshiped in all worlds, she is the source of all kinds of
wealth, richness, good fortune and auspiciousness, and she removes all the
afflictions, perils and troubles of the worshiper, Oh! Thulsi, kindly bless us. She is highly honorable, most venerable and
celebrated deity, she is worshiped in all worlds, she is the slayer of demon
Mahishasura, and she resides in the sacred land of Karaveerapura, Oh! Thulsi,
kindly protect us. She is Mayavathi who
is a great illusionist, she has personified as Bhagavathi, and Badhra, kalika, she is epitome of beauty,
she has lovely appearance, she has freidnly disposition; she is female aspect
of Lord Vishnu and Krishna, Oh! Thulsi, kindly protect us. She has personified
as Mahalakshmi , Mahakali, Vijaya and Jaya, she is unconquerable, she is
invisible/incorporeal, she is perceivable through intense faith and devotion,
Oh! Thulsi, kindly protect us. She represents Bhramani, Shankari, Vaishnavi,
Swadha, Devasena, and Maharaudhri, she symbolizes happiness, Oh! Thulsi, kindly
protect us. She represents Chamunda, and
Renuka, she symbolizes good fortune as well as unpromising to wicked people,
she has formidable appearance, she has
beautiful eyes resembles to lotus flower petals, she is adorned in lotus flower
garlands, Oh! Thulsi, kindly protect us. She symbolizes auspiciousness as well
as inauspiciousness, she is the slayer of Vrishabhasura, she symbolizes cuckoo,
Kamadhenu, kind of drum, and fierceness,
these hymn are highly confidential, it provides virtuous offspring, and grand
children, intense devotion, faith, and selfless service to the lotus feet
of Lord Vishnu, even to non-believer, it
guides the worshiper through the righteous path, worshiper would be relieved
from worldly desires and bondage, it is highly auspicious to recite on Fridays, Tuesdays and days of Pradosha,
recitation of these sacred hymns or writing these glorious verses during the
morning, and worship the same would remove all kinds of illnesses of the
worshiper. The above auspicious hymns
were narrated to Maharishi Naradha by Goddess Mahalakshmi along with Lord
Vishnu on the river banks of Sindhu,
later it was retold by Narada to me, these glorious verses are the essence of
all the greatest philosophies, sacred armor of Goddess Thulsi is capable to
bring all the fruitfulness to worshiper, recitation of Thulsi Sthavaraja brings abundance of piousness, worshiper who
yearn for offspring would be blessed with virtuous offspring, worshiper who
yearn for Kingdom would attain the same, worshiper who yearn for liberation from
repeated births would be blessed with the same, offering Thulsi leaves would
bring abundance of meritorious reward of
performing charity of Sapthadhvipa and
Earth.”
