Chapter -56 -Sri Vinaya Patrika  - Ajamila Upakhyanam – The description of Pathitha Pavana and Ramanama Mahima

Sri Tulsidas Maharaj speaks “Oh! Nath, if you don’t notice the accumulated sins from the several births of mine, how could you destroy them? How could I get rid of the mountain-sized Papa with a handful of Punya? I have committed countless sins by words, mind, and deeds that are impossible to describe even for the Adhishesha with the thousand of tongues and Devi Saraswathi and Veda. Oh! Bhagavan, my Papa cannot be destroyed without the Punyakarma and I am not seeing any possibility of it, so how could I get myself liberated from the repeated births? Oh! Bhagavan, you are Pathithapavana, capable to elevate the Jeeva from the miseries and sorrows of worldly existence, the recitation of your sacred names would purify the Jeeva from impurities of Kama, Krodha, Lobha, Moha, Madha, and Mathshcharya, remove interest in worldly matters and bondage, body and I consciousness, if those are true, kindly freed this Tulsi from the hold of sharp teeth of Yamadhootha, and protect me from the unfathomable ocean of worldly existence. Oh! Bhagavan, you have set an example for your sacred name ‘Pathitha Pavana’, you have liberated the twice-born Ajamila who was in death bed cried out for his son ‘Narayana’, was leading a depraved life in the forest got attracted to the prostitute, forgot his virtues, discipline, parents and family and started living with her, following immoral ways of living, hunting animals to feed the children, stealing money from the travelers in the woods, kept afar from the Brahminic rites those were sincerely followed while living with the family.”

Sri Tulsidas Maharaj continues “Oh! Ram, you are too kind do not take notice of the impurities of your worshiper if there was no impurities like Kama, Krodha, Lobha, Moha, Madha, and Mathshcharya, you need not fight against Lord Indra, Duryodhana, and Bali, and punish them for their sins. If you are too fond of performance of Yajja, Japa, Thapa, Vratha, Yoga, why did you choose to be with the Vrajangana, and Vrajagopis and fallen in love with their devotion, leaving all those Munishrestas who were performing several austerities? Oh! Bhagavan, how did we perform austerities and extreme Tapasya in the Kali era, if there wasn’t the easiest method of singing in praising your glorious myths and recitation of your sacred names how did we get ourselves purified? Oh! Sankatahari, if you have not protected the twice-born Ajamila who called out for his son ‘Narayana’, and you have burned out all his sins into ashes, otherwise, the emissaries of Yama won’t free him, and people like us have no hope to get our mountain-sized sins to get burned, the Yamadhootha would settle scores counting each and every sin committed. Oh! Bhagavan, if you have not assumed as Jagathprasidhdh PathithaPavana, then the Jeeva like Tulsi who have committed numerous sins won’t get liberated not even in the dreams for several Kalpa.”
