Chapter – 29 - Sur -Vinaya – Patrika –
Sri Surdas Maharaj speaks “ Oh! Mortals, the supreme Lord Krishna who is adorned in Vanamala/garland
made of flowers from the woods is the remover of grief and sufferings of the
Jeeva, he destroys the three kinds of grief such as 1)Adhidheivik/grief caused
by natural calamities, drought, famine, woodfire, flood, epidemic, etc. 2)
Adhibhauthik/grief caused by the attachment to possessions, wealth, richness,
money, fame, children, wife, companions and relatives, etc. 3) Adhyathmik/ grief
caused by the illnesses, aging, fear of death, separation of beloved ones, etc. Lord
Sri Krishna is the protector of souls who are surrendered at his lotus feet, hence
practice the devotion and worship of Lord Sri Hari. The child devotee Prahaladha
underwent several hardships, thrown to the mouth of death several times by his
father Hiranyakashipu was protected by Lord Sri Hari who incarnated as half lion-half
man on the pillar pointed out by Prahladha and ripped off the heart of
Hiranyakashipu. Oh! Murari, you have provided the highest of the honor ‘Dhruvapadham’
to your child devotee Dhruva who undertook severe austerities and penance. Oh!
Prabho, you have saved King Ambareesh from the curse of Dhruvassa and protected
his vows. Oh! Prabho, Dhrupadhasutha/Dhraupadhi was humiliated in the large
assembly of Kaurava, Dhusshasana removed her clothes before the crowd, she
cried out for help, finally remembered your name, that ‘Harinama’ provided her
an abundance of clothes on her body, later Dhusshasana miserably failed to look
for the other end of the clothing. Oh! Prabho, the Gajendhra, Ganika/prostitute,
Gauthamapathni Ahalya were released from their sufferings, eventually, they have
attained the supreme abode of you. Oh! Prabho, I am an unfortunate, ignorant
Jeeva, I have already taken shelter at your lotus feet, kindly protect me.”
