Chapter – 1 - Sur -Vinaya – Patrika – The initial prayer to
Lord of Sri Surdas Maharaj
I shall prostrate before the supreme Lord
Sri Hari, whose grace transforms the disabled to climb up the mountain peaks
enthusiastically, whose grace transforms the blind to achieve the eyesight,
whose grace transforms the speechless to achieve excellence in speech and hearing,
even the sinful and wicked who achieves the grace of supreme Lord Sri Hari
would attain honor, fame of a Naresha/King. I shall repeatedly prostrate before the lotus
feet of the compassionate Lord of Sri Surdas Maharaj, Sri Lord Hari.
Chapter – 2 - Sur -Vinaya – Patrika – The initial prayer to
Lord of Sri Surdas Maharaj -Lord Sri Krishna
Sri Surdas Maharaj speaks “ Oh!
Kamalalochana, who has beautiful eyes resembles the petals of lotus flowers, Oh!
Pranapriya, who is beloved of all, Oh! Shyamasundara who has the complexion of
freshly formed clouds, Oh! Thribangasundara, has a marvelous appearance with beautiful three curves on his body. Oh! Prabho, I shall repeatedly
prostrate before you. Oh! Prabho, your lotus feet are the highly cherished wealth
of Lord Sadhasiva, those lotus feet are inseparable from the heart of
Sindhusudha/daughter of ocean Goddess Sri Mahalakshmi. Oh! Prabho, your lotus
feet are worshiped by your ardent devotee Prahaladha with mind, deed, and speech,
which made him hostile to his father Hiranyakashipu and underwent several troubles
in his life. Oh! Prabho, your lotus feet brought Swargavahini/Devanadhi/Ganga
on the Earth whose mere presence is capable to purify the souls. Oh! Prabho,
your lotus feet removed the curse of Rishi Pathni Ahalya, and King Nriga,
Rajabali, Jatayu/king of birds, and several others attained liberation with the
devotion at your lotus feet. Oh! Prabho, your lotus feet were playfully moved
all over the sacred land of Vrindavan, that was adorned on the hood of serpent
Kaliya, those lotus feet crushed the pride of several demons. Oh! Prabho, your
lotus feet were worshipped by the Brajangana/cowherds, and they forgot the
worldly matters and bondage easily and got rid of interest in worldly matters
at the touch of your lotus feet. Oh! Prabho, your lotus feet were worshiped by
the Pandavas and remained protected always, you have performed the task of emissary
of Pandavas, charioteer of Arjuna, etc. Oh! Shyamasundhara, I shall repeatedly
prostrate at your lotus feet, Oh! Prabho, the devotion at your lotus feet
removes Thribidha Thapa/Adhyathmik – grief caused by aging, illness, etc.,
Adhbhauthik – grief caused by the interest in worldly matters such as wealth, possession,
money, richness, fame, children, wife, companion, and relatives, etc. and Adhidheivik – grief caused by natural
calamities, famine, drought, flood, epidemic, etc.
