Chapter – 94- Sur -Vinaya – Pathrika – Paramarththa Thaththva/The
absolute truth – The Body and Soul
Sri Surdas Maharaj speaks “Oh! Mind, listen
to me carefully, the Shareeraroopi Vriksha/body becomes lifeless immediately after the
Pranaroopi Pakshi/vital air abandons the body that resembles a tree with branches, the limbs, sense organs, muscle, blood, and bones get ruined in the absence of the
vital air resembles the bird/Pranaroopi Pakshi that leaves the body. Oh! Mortal, do not take pride in
body, it is perishable, it has fleeting nature, our body and cells undergo
transformation every second, and finally, the lifeless body becomes a feast to vultures. Oh! Ignorant, the body you are taking pride in it, the time and money invested
to decorate it has three kinds of fate, either it becomes the feast of worms,
animals, and birds/buried on the Earth or become ashes/setting fire to the corpse
or it becomes feast to aquatic animals/Jalasamadhi/the practice of abandoning
the corpse in the sacred waters. Oh! Mortal, the lifeless body is always considered indifferent and inauspicious, all those lusters, attractiveness, and the
loveliness of the body leave immediately after the vital air disappears from
the body. The people who loved your presence and nearness would urge to take
away the corpse to the burial ground at the earliest, they get scared to be
nearer to the lifeless body, and consider it as the spirit that would harm the people. Oh! Mortal, the son you have loved the most, watching him grow
day and night to a handsome young man, spend your whole life and wealth for his
welfare, conducted prayers and several rites for the happiness and long
life, would perform Kapalakriya/ the final rite of you. Oh! Ignorant,
leave your interest in worldly matters, possession, wealth, richness, money,
fame, children, wife, companion, and relatives, that constantly hurls into
Thapathraya/three kinds of grief, hence engage in the practice of the worship
of Lord Sri Hari, and spend your life in the association of Santh, Mahathma and
noble souls, the association with these noble souls would provide welfare
afterlife too. Oh! Mortal, the rarest birth as a human achieved after the pieties
of several births should be utilized for the worship and singing in praise of the virtues
of Lord Sri Hari, otherwise, you would undergo hellish torture by Lord
Yama/Lord of death. Oh! Ignorant, life without the practice of devotion,
worship of Lord Sri Hari, reading and listening to the sacred scriptures, being
in the association of Santh, Mahathma, noble souls is considered as unfruitful.”
