Chapter – 76 - Sur -Vinaya – Pathrika – The rarest birth as a human should be utilized for Bhagavathprapthi/achievement of the grace of Lord Sri
Hari
Sri Surdas Maharaj speaks “Oh! Mortal, what
did you do after achieving the rarest birth as a human? Oh! Mortal, you did not
worship Lord Sri Hari, or you did not practice meditation, contemplation upon
Lord Sri Hari, or did not perform austerities, vows, celibacy, Shama, Dhama, Sathyam,
Shaucham, Ahimsa, Astheyam, Arjjavam, etc. you have been drenched in worldly
matters of possession, richness, wealth, money, fame, wife, children,
relatives, companion, etc. chasing after infinite sound, touch, smell, passion, appearances
in the Universe, or did not achieve purity of mind, you were taking immense
pleasure in worldly matters like Suvar/pig, Kuththa/dog. Oh! Mortal, you did
not listen to the glorious legends of Srimad Bhagavatham, or you did not
achieve the grace of preceptor, or you did not learn the Paramaraththa
Thaththva/absolute truth/all the material matters are perishable and the all-pervasive
Bhramam resides as the soul is imperishable. Oh! Ignorant, you have been so drenched
in toxic poison-like material matters hence, you did not achieve
Bhagavathprapthi or you did not achieve pure love and devotion to Lord Govinda.
Oh! Dull-minded, you have been soaked in utter illusion, and considered the
fleeting natured bodily pleasures as eternal, like the husband taking great
pleasure in the company of his wife, thinking that the happiness derived from
their union is eternal, finally end up in extreme grief in the absence of other.
You have committed various sins by word, mind, and deed, have accumulated sins
of mountain-sized, eventually, your latter years of age have arrived, and put you
in complete misery of aging, illnesses, fear of death, and separation from
beloved ones. In this way, you have wasted your entire life without the practice of
devotion and worship of Lord Sri Hari, like the water held on the palm, you
have taken several births and hurled into the sixty-four lakhs Yonis/wombs of
humans, birds, reptiles, animals, etc. with the repeated interest in worldly
matters, chasing after lust, desire, anger, ego, jealousy, pride, etc.”
