– 147- Sur -Vinaya – Pathrika – The
methods to achieve nearness to Lord/Bhagavath Prapthi
Sri
Surdas Maharaj speaks “Oh! Mortals, the rarest birth achieved as a human should
be used to achieve the Bhagavath Prapthi/nearness to the Lord, if not the birth
of the person would be considered a burden on the Earth, or a living corpse. Oh!
Mortals, the tongue which is used to recite the glorious names and legends of
Lord Sri Hari achieve fruitfulness, the eyes attain worthiness by witnessing
the lotus feet of supreme Lord Sri Hari, and the mind/intellect/Chiththa that
does not take pleasure in worldly matters, or infinite Shabdha, Sparsha, Rasa,
Roopa, Gandha of diversities of the Universe achieves abundance of merit by
contemplating and meditating upon the lotus feet of Lord Sri Hari. Oh! Mortals,
the fortunate people take pleasure in listening to the glorious myths of Lord
Sri Hari, they drink the nectar-like legends of the Lord through their ears.
The hands achieve worthiness by selflessly serving the lotus feet of Lord Sri
Hari, and the devotees of the Lord, preceptors, and Santh, Mahathma, noble
souls, and twice-born/Bhramin. The legs achieve their worthiness by visiting
the sacred Brindhavan and adoring the supreme Lord Sri Shyamsundhar, it would multiply
the pure love and devotion at his lotus feet.”
