Chapter – 148- Sur -Vinaya – Pathrika – The significance of
recitation of ‘Sri Ramanama’
Sri Surdas Maharaj speaks “Oh! Mortals, the
moment the tongue mumble ‘Ram’, all the righteousness would be restored in it,
hence it is considered that the person has followed all the righteousness in
his/her life, mere the pronunciation of Sri Ramanama would bring an abundance
of piousness. The preceptors, twice-born, Santh and Mahathma who constantly sing
in praise of the Lord, churn the Veda and Shasthraroopi Dhahi/curd, meticulously,
and serve the Ghee derived in abundance to the Sadhakas/worshipers in Mudka/earthen
pot. The preceptors and Mahatmas who follow strict austerities and penance, vows,
Shama, Dhama, Sathyam, Shaucham, celibacy, Arjjavam, Astheyam, Ahimsa, Dhanam,
Dhaya, Swadhyaya, etc. are the reservoirs of wisdom, therefore the association
with these preceptors and Sanath Mahathma would pass on their wisdom, and knowledge
of Bhramam resembles ghee to their disciples. Lord Shiva and Lord Hanuman
adopted the ‘Sri Ramanama’, the essence of Veda, and took shelter in Lord Rama.
Oh! Mortals, whoever has taken shelter in the recitation of ‘Sri Ramanama’ with
utmost faith have achieved the serenity of mind, all their grief and sufferings
were turned into ashes and ultimately attained immense bliss. Oh! Mortals, the fortunate
ones have taken refuge in the sacred name of Lord Sri Rama, singing in praise
of his glories and made their life fruitful.”
