Sri Surdas Maharj speaks “Oh! Prabho, you
are the savior of distressed soul/Pathitha Pavan, I am the grave sinner who was
abandoned by all, there is no sinner like me on Earth. The twice-born/Bhramin
Ajamila who was fallen at the beauty of a prostitute in the forest and
abandoned his own family and Bhraminic rites was liberated by the mere utterance
of ‘Narayana’ at his deathbed cannot be treated as a grave sinner like me. Oh!
Prabho, hell is scared to accommodate me afterlife, Lord Yama has closed the
doors of hell for a grave sinner like me. Oh! Ramanath, do not take pride in
your title ‘Pathithapavan’/savior of distressed and desolate, because you have
liberated the people of minor mistakes, I am a grave sinner how do you liberate
me from the sufferings and grief of worldly existence? Oh! Prabho, if you do
not shower your compassionate grace upon this distressed soul, how would you
protect your title ‘Pathithapavan’ which was highly eulogized by Vedas?”
