Chapter – 244- Sur -Vinaya – Pathrika –
Sri Surdas
Maharaj speaks “Oh! Prabho, Oh! Sri Hari, kindly remove my grief and sufferings
of worldly existence/Thapathraya, 1) Adhidheivik - grief from natural calamities, epidemics, flood, forest fire, famine, drought, earthquake, etc. 2) Adhibouthik - grief from the attachments of worldly matters such as possession, wealth, money, fame, richness, wife, children, companion and relatives, and the grief caused by the separation of the above 3) Adhyathmik- grief from aging, illnesses, fear of death, and separation from the beloved ones, etc. at the earliest before anybody crowds before
your doorsteps, Oh! Prabho, I am worn out of suffering, spent my entire
life chasing material and physical pleasures, drenched in lust, desire, ego,
jealousy, anger, pride, Ahamkara and Mamakara, and getting attached to the
worldly matters of possession, richness, fame, wealth, money, children, wife,
companion and relatives of fleeting nature, hence I have not found peace or
serenity in the entire life. Oh! Prabho, kindly remove my anxiousness, and fear of
death, before anyone crowds at your doorsteps, so that others too avail your
compassionate grace. Oh! Prabho, you are the savior of the distressed souls,
hence people may throng before you, by merely listening to the recitation of your
sacred names, so it would add to your burden to liberate your devotees who have taken
shelter at your lotus feet. Oh! Prabho, I have spread your auspicious vow
‘Pathithapavan’/the savior of distressed soul/ which is eulogized by Veda and
illustrious Rishis and Sages, among your devotees, Oh! Prabho, kindly liberate
me from the sufferings and grief of worldly existence, so that your vow to your
devotees would multiply their belief in you.”
