Jai Sriman Narayana !!

I shall offer humble salutation to Lord Vishnu who is attired in majestic yellow silk clothe, he  has four powerful hands and the face has the luster of moon, he has auspicious face and he is the remover of all obstacles. I shall humble obeisance to Lord Vishvaksena who is the destroyer of all the obstructions  I shall offer humble salutation of Maharishi Vedavyasa who is the great grandson of Sage Vashishta and grandson of Sage Shakthi, Sage Vyasa is the son of Sage Parasara and father of Suka.  I shall offer humble salutation to Sage Veda Vyasa who is the master of all austerities I shall offer humble salutation to Sage Vyasa who is the personification of Lord Vishnu, descendant of Sage Vashishta who is most cherished Brahman. I shall offer humble salutation to Supreme Lord Vishnu, who is unblemished/Shuddha Sathva, eternal, supreme soul embodied and Universe and its living beings and he is victorious.  I shall offer humble salutation to supreme Lord Vishnu, whose sacred names are capable to liberate the people from the cycles of birth and death, by mere remembrance of it. I shall offer  humble salutation to the supreme Lord Vishnu, who is the essence of Pranava manthra.

Sri Vaishampayana said that after listening to about the various Dharmic rites which are capable to remove all the sins, Yudhishtira was remained uncertain.

Yudhishtira spoke “who is the supreme Lord in this Universe? At whose command the Universe undergoes various changes? Who should be eulogized to attain all the auspiciousness?". Yudhishtira continued “Which is the superior most Dharma/righteousness a human should follow? Which is the most sacred chant that will provide liberation from the cycles of birth and death?”.

Bhishma replied “whoever recites the thousands of most sacred names of Supreme Lord Vishnu, who is Jagathprabhu who is universal deity, all pervading Lord Purushothama who is flawless,  would be relieved from all sorrow and miseries.  Whoever recite the sacred names of supreme Lord Vishnu who is eternal, omnipresent, omnipotent and omniscient fervently and meditate upon him and prostrate before him will be freed from all sorrows and gried.  He is the personification of Brahmam and righteousness, he is the preserver of Universe and all the living and non-living things have originated from him.  I consider the highest of the righteousness is eulogizing the Lord Pundarikaksha who has beautiful eyes resembles to lotus flower petals with utmost faith and devotion.  He is the essence of supreme consciousness,  he is the controller of the Universe, he is omnipresent, he is pure, he symbolizes auspiciousness, he is supreme Lord, and he is imperishable and he is the  father of all beings.  At the beginning of Yuga, all the living being come into existence from him and in the same manner  it dissolve into him at the end of the Yuga.  Listen to me carefully, the hymns which constitute thousand holy names of Lord Vishnu who is the master of the Universe/Jagannatha, he is  Bhoopathi who is the consort of Goddess Earth, capable to eradicate all the sins and fears of worldly existence.  These are the most sacred names though they are inefficient to praise his glories and attributes but found a place in the exalted hymns of Rishis.  The illustrious sage Vedavyasa is the Rishi of these thousand holy names of Lord Vishnu,  Anushtup as the meter, presiding deity is Lord Krishna who is  son of Devaki, nectar like seed was born in the lunar race  as son of Devi Devaki whoever sings ‘Thrisama’ who represents trinities would attain eternal peace.   I prostrate before Lord Vishnu/ Lord Purushothama, who is victorious, omnipresent, mighty Lord of Lords, and destroyer of demons.  I shall meditate upon  supreme Lord Vishnu, I shall earnestly pray to Keshava who has attractive curly hair locks to protect our feet, I shall earnestly pray to Narayana who reclines on the serpent Anantha in milky ocean to protect my shank, I shall earnestly pray to Madhava who is the consort of Goddess Sri Mahalakshmi to protect my waist line, I shall earnestly pray to Govinda who eradicates the sins of the worshiper to protect my productive organ, I shall earnestly pray to  Vishnu who is the preserve of Universe to protect my navel, I shall earnestly pray to Madhusoodhana who is the slayer of demon Madhu to protect my stomach, I shall earnestly pray to  Thrivikrama who has personified as dwarf and measured the whole Universe with the three strides to protect my bosom, I shall earnestly pray to Vamana who was to Sage Kashyapa and Adithi to protect my heart, I shall earnestly pray to Sridhara who holds Mahalaksmi on chest to protect my throat, I shall earnestly pray to Rishikesha who has won over senses to protect my face, I shall earnestly pray to Padmanabha who has lotus flower on navel to protect my eyes,  and I shall earnestly pray to  Damodhara who was tied to mortal pastel by Devi Yasodha to protect my head, whoever recites  or listens to these sacred names in the propitious hours would be protected and would be blessed with all the auspiciousness and supernatural powers. ”
