Sri Vishnu Sahasranamam !! Lyrics & meanings

The highly propitious hymns describes the thousands of sacred names of Lord Vishnu/Sri Vishnu Sahasranama Sthothra was composed by Maharishi Veda Vyasa, it has Anushtup as Chandhass, Sri Mahavishnu who is Paramathma Sriman Narayana as presiding deity, Amritham Shudhbhava Banurithi as Beejam, Devakinandhana Shrutha Ithi as Shakthi, Uthbhava Kshobhano Deva as Paramamanthra, Shankhabhrith Nandhaki, Chakra as Keelam, Sharnga Dhanva, Gadha as Asthram,Rathangapani Rakshobhya as Nethram, Thrisama Samaga as Kavacham, Anandham Paramambhra as Yoni, Rithu, Sudharshana, Kala as Digbandha, I shall meditate upon the Vishvaroopa of Lord Vishnu, it is recited to please Lord Vishnu.

I shall prostrate before supreme Lord Vishnu who is wielded on Shankha and offer salutation with my thumb, I shall prostrate before Lord Vishnu who is wielded on Chakra and offer salutation with my forefinger, I shall prostrate before Lord Vishnu who is wielded on Gadha and offer salutation with my middle finger, I shall prostrate before Lord Vishnu who is wielded on Gadga and offer salutation with my ring finger, I shall prostrate before supreme Lord Vishnu who is wielded on Sharnga/bow, and offer salutation with my little finger, I shall prostrate before supreme Lord Vishnu who is wielded on five vicious weapons like Shankha, Chakra, Gadga Gadha,  and Sharnga,  and I shall offer salutation with my palm and back of  the palm.

I shall prostrate before supreme Lord Vishnu and I shall offer humble salutation with my heart to Lord Vishnu who is decked in Shankha, I shall prostrate before supreme Lord Vishnu and I shall offer humble salutation with my head to Lord Vishnu who is wielded in  Chakra, I shall prostrate before supreme Lord Vishnu and I shall offer humble salutation my tuft to Lord Vishnu who is wielded in Gadha, I shall prostrate before supreme Lord Vishnu who is wielded in Gadga and I shall assume as  sacred armor, I shall prostrate before supreme Lord Vishnu who is wielded in Sharnga  and I shall offer  humble salutation with my three eyes, I shall prostrate before supreme Lord Vishnu who is wielded in five vicious weapons and I shall embrace it as Asthra, and I shall offer salutation to all the directions as well.

I shall prostrate before supreme Lord Vishnu, he is  Lord Mukunda, who holds conch/ Shanka, dice/Chakra, mace/Gadha,  he is adorned in various precious pearls and crystal garlands, he is  majestically seated on a raised platform made of pearl and various precious gems, in the milky ocean of lustrous sands in the light of gems and the sky is  covered with the nectar like white clouds.  Supreme Lord Mukunda/Shankapani  is in a state of extreme bliss.   I shall prostrate before supreme Lord Vishnu, who has embodied as Universe, his feet represents Earth,  navel represents sky,  breath represents wind, he has sun and moon as  eyes, his ears represents directions, head represents heaven, face represents fire, abdomen represents ocean.  He has embodied as Universe and its  living beings, he represents  deities, humans, birds, cattle, serpents, celestial and demons. My humble salutation to supreme Lord Vishnu, who is the Lord of Lords and Lord of the Universe as well,  he is serene, reclining on the serpent Anantha, He is Lord Padmanabha who is Lord of all the deities who has lotus in his navel, he is the preserver of the Universe, he is all pervading and has the complexion of clouds, he is the consort of Goddess Sri Mahalakshmi, he has the eyes resembling to lotus flower petals, he is meditated upon by  Yogis and illustrious Rishis and Sages, he removes the fears of worldly existence.  My humble salutation to Lord Vishnu who is  Lord of the  Universe and its living beings, he has the complexion of clouds, he is attired in majestic yellow clothes, he has a magnificent mark of Srivathsa on chest, he is decked in Kousthubam/precious gem , he is Lord Pundarikaksha whose eyes has the resemblance to lotus flower petals and he is always surrounded by the Yogis and Rishis.  I shall prostrate before Supreme Lord Vishnu along with Goddess Sri Mahalakshmi, he is the Lord of Lords, he has several manifestations,  he holds Shankha and Chakra,  he is adorned in beautiful ear earrings and Kousthubam, he is attired in majestic silk yellow clothes.  I shall prostrate before Lord Krishna along with Goddesses Sri Rukmini and Sathyabhama who is seated on the marvelous throne made of precious yellow metal, he has the complexion of dark clouds, he has the luster of moon, he has four powerful arms,  he is adorned in  Kousthubham and magnificent Srivathsam on the chest.  I shall take refuge at the lotus feet of Krishna along with Goddess Sri Rukmini and Sathyabhama.
