There is stunning body and charismatic looks, attractive wife, abundance of fame and enormous wealth like Mount Meru, but if there is no sincere devotion to the lotus feet of Guru/preceptor, all of the above remains worthless.

There is wife/Kalathram, wealth/Dhanam, children and grandchildren/Puthrapouthradhi, house, relatives and all that present, but if there is no sincere devotion to the lotus feet of Guru/Preceptor, all of the above remains worthless.

There is abundance of knowledge in Veda and Shasthra, scholastic skills in Gadhyam and Padhyam, but if there is no sincere devotion to the lotus feet of Guru/preceptor, all of the above remains worthless.

There is great honor in far off places and high admiration in their own place and there is no one to excel the virtues, but if there is no sincere devotion to the lotus feet of Guru/preceptor, all of the above remains worthless.

There are Kings and great rulers are present to venerate your lotus feet, but if there is no sincere devotion to the lotus feet of Guru/preceptor, all of the above remains worthless.

There is abundance of fame earned due to enormous generosity and have performed all that self-pleasing deeds in this Universe, but if there is no sincere devotion to the lotus feet of Guru/preceptor, all of the above remains worthless.

There is strong dispassion towards material happiness, possession of horses, enticing face of women and worldly bondage, but if there is no sincere devotion to the lotus feet of Guru/preceptor, all of the above remains worthless.

There is no charm in living in wood or our own house, no desire to achieve anything or no desire to fulfil bodily pleasures, but if there is no sincere devotion to the lotus feet of Guru/preceptor, all of the above remains worthless.

There is enormous possession of precious gems and ornaments, beautifully attired and desirable woman, but if there is no sincere devotion to the lotus feet of Guru/preceptor, all of the above remains worthless.

Whoever recites the glorious verses of Guru Ashtakam whether he is a King or Bhramachari or an ascetic or any ordinary person and sincerely follow the teachings of Guru/Perceptor and venerates his lotus feet would attain the honor of Bhramam.
