Sri Mahamruthyunjaya Ashtakam by Sage Markandeya !! Lyrics & its meanings

I shall meditate upon supreme Lord Pasupathi, who has three eyes that represents Lord Chandra, Lord Surya and Lord Agni, he has ever pleasant face, he dwells in the lotus flower, he carries Pasam, deer and beads of Rudraksha, he has the luster of ice, he has the luster of crores of Lord Chandra, he is decked in various ornaments, his charisma attracts the entire Universe, he is the Lord of all the living beings and he has won over the death. Whoever surrendered to Lord Rudra/fierce form of Lord Shiva, Lord Pasupathi/Lord of all the living beings, who is firm/Sthanu, he is Neelakanda/bluish throat Lord, he is the consort of Goddess Uma/Umapathi will not have the fear of death. Whoever surrendered to Lord Neelakanda/bluish throat Lord, who is personified as Kalamoorthi and Kalagni/colossal fire at the time of deluge, he is the destroyer of Lord Yama, will not have the fear of death. Whoever surrendered to Lord Neelakanda who has bluish throat, he has numerous eyes/Viroopaksham, he is unblemished and has supreme radiance, will not have the fear of death. Whoever surrendered to Lord Vamadeva, Lord Mahadeva/supreme Lord, he is the Lord of the Universe/Lokanatha, he is Jagathguru/preceptor of the Universe, will not have the fear of death. Whoever surrendered to Lord or the Lords/Devadeva, he is the Lord of Universe/Jagannatha, he is the Lord of deities/Devesha, he has the flag which has the symbol of divine bull/Vrushabadhvajam, will not have the fear of death. Whoever surrendered to Supreme Lord Shiva who has three eyes/Thraiksham, Chathurbujam/four hands, he has serene look, he has attractive matted hair locks and crescent moon on his crown, will not have the fear of death. Whoever surrendered to supreme Lord Shiva whose body is smeared in sacred ash and decked in venmous serpents as garlands, will not have the fear of death. Whoever surrendered to supreme Lord Shiva who is primordial and beyond description, he has serene look, he is Hara decked in Akshamala, will not have fear of death. Whoever surrendered to the supreme Lord Shiva who is the symbol of eternal bliss, he is beyond thought, he is firm and he is the provider of Kaivalya/Moksham, will not have the fear of death. Whoever surrendered to the Supreme Lord Shiva who is personified as Ardhanareeshwara/half of the body shared with his consort Goddess Parvathi, he is most desirable to Goddess Sri Parvathi, will not have the fear of death. Whoever surrendered to Supreme Lord Shiva who is the cause of Pralaya/deluge and cause of beginning of the Universe as well, will not have the fear of death. Whoever surrendered to the Supreme Lord Shiva who has the matted hair locks which has the resemblance to sky/Vyomakesham, he has numerous eyes/Virupaksham, he is decked in crescent moon on his matted hair locks, will not have the fear of death. Whoever surrendered to the supreme Lord Shiva who is Gangadhara/decked Goddess Ganga on his matted hair locks and crescent moon/Shashidharam, he is Shankara/ provider of auspiciousness, he carries trident/Shoolapani, will not have the fear of death. Whoever surrendered to supreme Lord Shiva who is provider of salvation and cause for the creation, preservation and destruction of the Universe, will not have the fear of death. Whoever surrendered to Supreme Lord Shiva who is the provider of long life, piousness and good health, will not have the fear of death. Whoever surrendered to supreme Lord Shiva, he is Mahadeva/Supreme God, He is Vamadeva/disperse the fruit of Karma, He is Sadasiva/always blissful, will not have the fear of death. Whoever surrendered to supreme Lord Shiva who is the cause of creation, preservation and destruction, great Preceptor, will not have the fear of death. Whoever recites these sacred verses before supreme Lord Shiva that was composed by Sage Markandeya would not have the fear of death or fear from theft or fire. Whoever reads these sacred verses for hundred times would get rid of their miseries and grief, whoever reads with utmost devotion and faith would get their wishes fulfilled.

Oh Mahadeva, Oh! Mruthyunjaya, I shall surrender to your lotus feet, kindly protect us from miseries of repeated births, unexpected death, aging, illnesses and worldly bondages. Oh! Supeme Lord Shiva, I shall recite these sacred verses of Mruthyunjaya Manthra with utmost faith and devotion, I shall prostrate before Supreme Lord Shiva who is the soul in the living beings/Paramathma, he is true ascetic/Yogi who is the destroyer of all the miseries and grief.
