I shall sincerely meditate upon Lord Shiva, who is the symbol of auspiciousness/Shankara/Shambhu, he is the protector of the living beings/Prananatham, he is the Lord of the Universe/Vishwanatham, he is the Lord of Jagannatha/Jagannathanatham,  he is eternal bliss, he is the Lord of Bhoothaganas/Bhoothanatham, he is the commander of  past,present and future.  I shall sincerely meditate upon Lord Shiva, who is the symbol of auspiciousness/Shankara/Shambhu, he is decked in garlands made of skulls/Rundamalam, he is adorned in several venomous serpents as ornaments/Sarpajalam, he is the death of Lord Yama/Mahakalakalam, he is the protector of Bhoothaganas/Ganeshadhipalam, he has attractive matted hair locks which holds the powerful water current of Ganga.  I shall sincerely meditate upon Lord Shiva, who is the symbol of auspiciousness/Shankara/Shambhu, he is the symbol of eternal bliss, he is decked in various precious ornaments, he has supreme brilliance, he is smeared in sacred ashes all over his body/Bhasmabhooshakaram, he is primordial and eternal too, he is the destroyer of worldly desires.  I shall sincerely meditate upon Lord Shiva, who is the symbol of auspiciousness/Shankara/Shambhu, he has boisterous voice, enthusiastically explores through the whole world, he is the destroyer of sins of his devotees, he has supreme radiance, he is Gireesha/who dwells in mountain peaks and caves, he is Ganesha/Lord of Ganas, he is Suresha/Lord of the deities/suras, he is Mahesha/Lord of the Universe.  I shall sincerely meditate upon Lord Shiva, who is the symbol of auspiciousness/Shankara/Shambhu, his half of the body is occupied by Goddess Sri Parvathi, he dwells in the mountain peaks,  he is omnipresent, he is worshiped by Lord Bhrama and deities,  he is Parambhrama.  I shall sincerely meditate upon Lord Shiva, who is the symbol of auspiciousness/Shankara/Shambhu, he carries skull/Kapalam and trident/Thrishoolam on his hand. He provides various boons to people who are surrendered at his lotus feet, he has divine bull as celestial vehicle,  he is supreme Lord.  I shall sincerely meditate upon Lord Shiva, who is the symbol of auspiciousness/Shankara/Shambhu, he has the luster of autumn moon, he is the store house of virtues and eternal bliss, he has three eyes/Thrinethram, he is unblemished/Pavithram, he is close associate of Lord Kubera, he is the consort of Aparna/Goddess Parvathi, he has various marvelous legends.  I shall sincerely meditate upon Lord Shiva, who is the symbol of auspiciousness/Shankara/Shambhu, he is the destroyer of sins/Hara, he is decked in venomous serpents as ornaments, he merrily explores through the funeral grounds, he is the essence of Veda, he remains free from emotion,  he dwells in the funeral grounds, he is the destroyer of Lord Kamadeva. Whoever reads or listens to the glorious verses of Sri Shivashtakam with utmost faith and devotion, she/he would be blessed with virtuous offspring, wealth, abundance of grains, righteous associates and chaste wife, ultimately attains liberty from the repeated births.
