Sri Gita Govinda Mahakavyam - Sri Jayadeva Ashtapadi – 5 - Lyrics and meanings

|| Jai Sriman Narayana ||

Radharani slowly walked down through the woods, her heart was brimming with intense love and devotion to Hari, and she was completely disappointed to witness Lord Krishna’s passionate sport with the young maidens of Vraja in the mangrove of Vrindavan, Lord Krishna did not admit her eminence in the middle of young maidens of Vraja, she felt disoriented and revealed her feelings to closest compassion.

The sweet nectar-like sounds from his lips, melodious music from the bamboo flute are reverberating, his fidgety eye movements are irresistible, his dangling earrings that keep touching the cheeks, I shall constantly remember the charismatic looks and mirth of Hari, his attractive and lustrous hair locks are decorated in feathers of the peacock, lustrous curly hair locks resemble  rainclouds and rainbows, his attractive body is attired in the finest garments, Krishna lean towards the beautiful young maidens of Vraja who have attractive physique and stunningly gorgeous faces, he prepares to kiss the young maidens with his soft and lustrous flower-like lips, with a beautiful smile on his face, he takes immense pleasure in the tight embrace of thousands of beautiful young maidens of Vraja with his long arms, he is decked in various ornaments all over the body that spreads intense luster and in this way they drive out the darkness, beautiful sandal paste on his forehead surpasses the beauty of the moon in the midst of fresh rain clouds, large and high raised bosom of the young maidens are bruised and its caused pain by the amorous sport of Krishna, he is decked in marvelous earrings that spread intense luster on his cheeks, he is attired in majestic yellow garments, he is surrounded by the sages and Rishis, Suras and Asuras, and all the deities, Oh! Sakhi, my heart is sinking in despair, though I have moved near the Kadamba tree,   full of desolation and fear after the quarrel with him, I was besieged with the cupid arrow of Manmatha, it will be vanished by the wonderful and pleasing appearance of him.

The above are the splendid verses composed by Sri Jayadeva, describing the most attractive form of supreme Lord Hari, engaged in the constant remembrance of lotus feet of Hari and the most enchanting form, which is considered highly propitious.
