Lord Shiva speaks “ Oh! Devi, listen to
me carefully, I shall narrate to you the thousands of sacred names of Sri
Durga. The recitation of these sacred
names will please Goddess Mahadevi, it is capable to provide Chathurvarga
Phalam such as Dharma, Artha , Kama and Moksha. Whoever recites or listens to the glorious
verse would get all their desires fulfilled; it provides propitious reward such
as wealth, offspring, and welfare to the children, it eradicates severe
illnesses, evil effects due to the changes in planetary positions, unexpected
and accidental death, it provides success in endeavors, debates, difficulties,
war field, sailing and triumph over enemies, it was composed by Maharishi
Narada, and it has Gayathri as Chandhas, Shakthi as Beejam and presiding deity
is Goddess Sri Durga Paradevatha. These sacred names of Goddess Durga are
recited for the fulfillment of all the desires."

Sahasranama Mahamala is composed
by Maharishi Narada, it has Gayathri as Chandhas, presiding deity is Sri Durga
Paradevatha, Dhum as Beejam, Hrim as Shakthi, Om as Keelakam, it is recited to
please Goddess Sri Durga.

I shall prostrate before supreme Goddess
Sri Durga by reciting sacred syllables of Shakthi, Keelakam and Beejam hymns,
and offer salutation with the thumb, I shall prostrate before Goddess Sri Durga
by reciting Shakthi, Keelakam and Beejam hymns, and offer salutation with
forefinger, I shall prostrate before Goddess Sri Durga by reciting Shakthi,
Keelakam and Beejam hymns, and offer salutation with middle finger, I shall
prostrate before Goddess Sri Durga by reciting Shakthi, Keelakam and Beejam
hymns, and offer salutation with ring finger, I shall prostrate before Goddess
Sri Durga by reciting Shakthi, Keelakam and Beejam hymns, and offer salutation
with little finger, I shall prostrate before Goddess Sri Durga by reciting
Shakthi, Keelakam and Beejam hymns, and offer salutations with palm and back of
the palm as well.

I shall prostrate before supreme Goddess
Durga, who is mounted on celestial vehicle lion, she is decked in magnificent
crown decorated with crescent moon, she is decked in various precious ornaments
that spreads intense luster in all directions, she has four hands that is
wielded in Shankham, Chakram, and Dhanus,
she has lustrous three eyes, she is decorated in various gem studded ornaments
as Hara/necklace, Kankana/bangles and armlets, Noopura/anklets and magnificent gem decorated
earrings, she is Durga who eradicates all kinds miseries and ill fortune of the
worshiper.

reverentially offer rich fragrant musk
to Goddess Prithvi, I shall recite the
sacred syllable Ham and offer fresh alluring flowers to Sky, I shall recite the

fragrant incense to Lord Vayu, I shall recite the sacred syllable Ram and offer earthen lamp to Lord Vahni, I shall recite the sacred
syllable Vam and offer nectar like opulent
oblations to Amrithathmika, I shall
recite the sacred syllable Sam and offer
all kinds of reverential gestures
to Sarvathmika.
