Sri Shanaishchara Sthothram by Emperor Dhasharatha/Padma Puranam – Lyrics and meanings

|| Jai Sriman Narayana ||

I shall meditate upon Goddess Saraswathi and Lord Vinayaka who is the Lord Ganas, I shall memorize the sacred hymn of Shauri composed by Raja Dhasharatha, I shall prostrate before supreme Lord Shanaishchara who has the luster of blue and the appearance of blue lotus flower, I shall prostrate before supreme Lord Shanaishchara who has emaciated body  which  is impossible to visualize and he has long matted hair locks and mustache,  I shall prostrate before supreme Lord Shanaishchara who has wide eyes, shrunken stomach and dreadful appearance.  I shall prostrate before supreme Lord Shanaishchara who has rough and unique stature and massive hairs.  I shall prostrate before supreme Lord Shanaishchara who is afflicted by extreme hunger and distress,  I shall prostrated before supreme Lord Shanaishchara who has the appearance of Kalagni/colossal fire at the end of Yuga, and put an end to  slaughtering,  I shall prostrate before supreme Lord Shanaishchara who has large and round eyes, he has unkind look,  I shall prostrate before supreme Lord Shanaishchara who has  dreadful, impetuous, fierce and frightening appearance, I shall prostrate before supreme Lord Shanaishchara who has no restrictions about meals, he has wrinkled face.  I shall prostrate before supreme Lord Shanaishchara who is the son of Lord Surya, afflicts with fear in the wicked people.  I shall prostrate before supreme Lord Shanaishchara who has downward gaze, he has dazzling appearance too.  I shall prostrate before supreme Lord Shanaishchara who has slow gait, he carries sword, I shall prostrate before supreme Lord Shanaishchara whose body is severely burnt by ascetic practices, he is immersed in strict Yogic practices, his eyes symbolizes supreme wisdom and knowledge, he is the son of Kashyapathmaja/son of Rishi Kashyapa, if he is pleased will bestow kingdom to worshiper, if he is angry he would impose severe punishments as well, he will not spare  Deva, Asura, Manushya, Pashu or Pakshi, Oh! Shaure, your depressed glance falls on Lord Bhrama, Shakra/Lord Vishnu, Yama, Rishis, and Saptha Tharakas, while moving in the constellation, your glance causes obliteration from  kingdom, countries, cities, villages, and islands, your fierce glances would cause immediate destruction, therefore  Oh! Shaure, I shall surrender to your lotus feet, kindly blesses with various boons, Oh! Shaure, Kindly forgive all our mistakes and shower blessings on us.
