Mrithasanjjeevana Sthothram – Sage Vashishta – Lyrics and meanings

I shall prostrate before supreme Lord Gaureesha/ Lord of Goddess Gauri who is most celebrated deity, he is Eshvara who has won over Lord Yama, Mrithasanjjevanam Kavacham is superior hymn which is the essence of all the sacred hymns, it symbolizes piousness and auspiciousness and it is highly confidential.  The sacred armor of Lord Mahadeva is known as Mrithasanjeevanam which is capable to give life to dead; hence it is highly propitious to listen to the hymn of Mrithasanjjevanam which was not disclosed earlier, Oh! Mahadeva, Oh! Mrithyunjjaya, who showers abundance of boons to worshiper, he is most venerable, and he is worshiped by all the deities, kindly protect us form being in front, Oh! Sadhashiva, Oh! Agniroopi, Oh! Prabhu who is wielded in powerful trident, he has three faces, he has six hands and one hand in Abhayahastha posture, kindly protect us from the south-east, Oh! Mahadeva, Oh! Yamaroopi, Oh! Vibhu, who has eight powerful hands, he holds Danda, and one hand in Abhayashastha posture, kindly protect us from the right, Oh! Mahesha, Oh! Rakshoroopi, who is wielded in  Khadga and one hand in abhayahastha posture, he is extremely valorous, protector of Ganas and he is always surrounded by the Ganas, kindly protect us from south – west, Oh! Mahadeva, Oh! Varunathma, who is wielded in Pasha, one hand in abhayahastha posture, he is adorned in ornaments of various precious gems, kindly protect us from west, Oh! Maruthathma, Oh! Shankara, who is beloved of Lord Vishnu who is wielded in mace and one hand in Abhayahastha posture, he is the safest heaven to worshiper, kindly protect from north - west, Oh! Parameshvara who is the Lord of Lord Vishnu who hold conch, he resides as soul in living beings, Oh! Shankara, Oh! Prabhu, kindly protect us from all the sides, Oh! Parameshvara, who is wielded in spear and one hand in Abhayahastha posture, he symbolizes wisdom and knowledge, Oh! Eshanathma, kindly protect us from the north-east, Oh! Bhramaroopi, Oh! Vishvathma, kindly protect us from the upper areas, Oh! Shankara kindly protect my head, Oh! Chandhrashekhara kindly protect my forehead, Oh! Sarvalokesha kindly protect the middle part of eye brows, Oh! Thrinethra, kindly protect my eyes, Oh! Girisha kindly protect my eyebrows, Oh! Maheshvara kindly protect my ears, Oh! Mahadeva kindly protect my nose, Oh! Vrishadhvaja kindly protect my lips, Oh! Dhakshinamoorthi kindly protect my tongue, Oh! Girisha, kindly protect my line of teeth, Oh! Mrithyunjjaya kindly protect my face, Oh! Nagabhooshana kindly protect my neck, Oh! Pinaki, kindly protect my hands, Oh! Thrishooli kindly protect my heart, Oh! Panchavakthra kindly protect my bosom, Oh! Jagadheeshvara kindly protect my stomach, Oh! Viroopaksha, kindly protect my navel, Oh! Parvathipathi, kindly protect us being close, Oh! Girisha, kindly protect my waist line, Oh! Pramadhadhipa kindly protect my back, Oh! Maheshvara kindly protect my re-productive organ, Oh! Bhairava kindly protect my thighs, Oh! Jagathkarththa, kindly protect my knees, Oh! Lord of Jagadhambika, kindly protects my calves, Oh! Lokavandhya, Oh! Sadhashiva, kindly protect my feet, Oh! Gireesha, kindly protect my wedded husband/wife, Oh! Bhava, kindly protect my son, Oh! Mrithyunjjaya kindly protect our life span, Oh! Gananayaka, kindly protect our intellect, Oh! Kalakala, Oh! Sadhashiva, kindly protect our limbs at all times.  The above are the glorious hymns praising the sacred armor of Lord Mrithyunjjaya which is not easily accessible even to the deities, these sacred hymns are known as Mrithasanjeevanam which was composed by Lord Mahadeva, recitation of these sacred hymns for thousands of times would provide the lotus feet of Mahadeva, whoever reads or listens to it would remain protected from untimely and accidental death, and worshiper would attain long life, it eradicates all kinds of critical illnesses and miseries, it brings success in endeavor and various siddis, recitation of these sacred hymns before commencement of war for twenty eight times would provide immense success in the battle field, it would diffuse even the superior weapon known as Bhramasthra, it is highly propitious to read in the early hours of dawn, it would bring all kinds of auspiciousness and fortune to worshiper, it eradicates all kinds of illnesses and protect the worshiper from all the illnesses as well, it eradicates death of youth at sixteen.  These are the sacred hymns known as Mrithasanjeevanam, even inaccessible to the deities.
