Narada speaks “ Oh!Bhagavan, Oh! Devadevesha,
who undertakes the function of creation, preservation and destruction at
the end of Yuga, kindly narrate the hundred and eight of sacred names of
Goddess Bagalamukhi.”
Sri
Bhagavan speaks “ Oh! Vathsa, listen to me carefully, I shall narrate the
hundred and eight sacred names of Peethambara who is attired in majestic yellow
silk garment, she is Mahadevi whose sacred hymns are capable to wash off the
severe sins of the worshiper, it gives excellence in speech even to the persons
with lack of speaking ability, and it destroys the enemies of the worshiper.
Sri Peethambara Ashtoththarashathanama Sthothram was composed by Rishi
Sadhashiva, it has Anushtup as Chandhass and it is recited to please Goddess
Peethambara.”
I shall
prostrate before supreme Goddess Sri Bagalamukhi/crane-faced, who represents
eighth Goddess in Dhasha Mahavidhya forms, known as Kali, Thara, Shodashi,
Bhuvaneshvari, Chinnamastha, Bhairavi, Dhoomravathi, Bagala, Mathangi and
Kamala, she has personified as female force of Lord Vishnu and Shankara, she is
all pervading, she is the mother of Veda, she represents cosmic sleep of Mahavishnu
and various incarnations as Mahamathsya, Mahakoorma, and Mahavaraha, she is beloved of Narasimha,
she has most pleasing disposition, she represents Vamana/dwarf, Vatu/Bhramin,
Jamadhagnya/Parashurama, Rama, etc.. she is eulogized by Rama, she has the
complexion of dark clouds, she has attractive matted hair locks, she is worshiped
in a prescribed rite with fire sacrifices, she represent debate, various art
forms, and intellect, she has personified as wife of Lord Buddha, she
represents doctrines of Buddha and impending incarnation as Kalki, she
eradicates the evil effects of Kali era, she eradicates afflictions of Kali
era, she has the brilliance of millions of Adithya, she excels the beauty of
millions of Manmatha, she is independent to act and does not require any
support system, she has fierce form as Kali, she represents all the art forms,
she is the provider of highest of the devout act, she is personified as Keshavi
who is most desirable of Keshava and immerses in the veneration of Keshava, she
is Kishori who is eulogized by Keshava, she is personified as Rudrani who is female
force of Rudra, she is wrathful, she is
inseparable consort of Rudra, she represents Nakshathra, she is worshiped by
Lord of Nakshathra, she is beloved of Lord of Nakshathra, she is eternal, she is
worshiped by Nakshathrapathi, she represents serpents and their clan, she is
Nageshvari who is worshiped by Nagaraja,
she has embodied as Nagakanya, she is clever, she was born as daughter of King
of mountains/Mount Himavan, she is worshiped by King of Mountains, she is
youthful, she represents cloud, precious yellow metal, and dark clouds, she is stunningly gorgeous,
she has the complexion of blood red and dark clouds, she symbolizes mass, she
is pure, she has fair complexion, she symbolizes auspiciousness and good
fortune, she is lovely, she represents wealth and prosperity, she has pleasant
disposition, she has the luster of precious yellow metal, she is the safest
heaven to worshiper, she guides the worshiper through the righteous path, she
is alarming to enemies, she is the ruler of the Universe and its living beings,
she eradicates enemies, she is Bhamini who is most beautiful and passionate, she
is great illusionist, she causes sudden halt to life on Earth, she has dreadful as well as
most enticing form too, she represents auspiciousness, she eradicates
Ragadhvesha/lust, ego, pride, jealous, anger, desire etc… she represents dark
hours of night, she is the annihilator of demons, dishonest, and wicked people,
she is personified as Yakshini, she represents Siddhas, she is Siddhesha, she
symbolizes Siddhi/supernatural powers, she caused the annihilation of
Lankadhipathi/Ravana, she is worshiped in Lankeshapuri, she obliterated the
clan of Lankanatha/Ravana, she caused the death Maharavana, she is Parameshvari
who is worshiped by deities, Dhanavas, Siddhas etc.. she has minuscule as well
as massive form too, she is Varadha who provides abundance of boons, she is
worshiped by her passionate devotees and she showers abundance of boons to
them, she is beloved of Varadhesha, she is extremely valorous, she is adorned
in various precious ornaments all over the body, she is Vasudha who symbolizes
wealth and auspiciousness, she has various incarnations, she is Vani who is
Goddess of speech, she is absolute Bhramam, she is lovely faced, she is the
provider of strength and courage, she has the luster of gold, she is adorned in
precious yellow metal, she is fond of fresh alluring yellow flowers, she is
adorned in yellow flower garlands, she represents yellow/yellow gem/Topaz/gold.
