|| Jai Sriman Narayana ||
The
sacred armor of Lord Shiva was heard by Shaunaka, Sage Vashishta narrated to
Gandharva and Manu who worshiped supreme
Lord Shiva, which was later narrated on the sacred land of Pushakara by
Sage Vashishta, further it was narrated to Ravana by Bhramin, then Bana who is
the manifestation of Shambhu narrated to
Sage Dhurvassa, recitation of this sacred armor which is equivalent to
Veda on regular basis and offerings to Lord Shiva would bring abundance of
meritorious reward to the worshiper.
Bana
speaks “ Oh! Maheshvara/mighty Lord, Oh! Mahabhaga/illustrious, highly
fortunate, pure, most venerable, kindly narrate the sacred armor, which has
highest of the purification effects on Samsara, which is known as
Samsarapavanam, Oh! Prabho, kindly narrate to me.”
Maheshvara
speaks “Oh! Vathsa/son, I shall narrate the highly propitious and marvelous hymns
of Samsarapavanam, listen to me carefully, it is one of the very rare verses
among the superior hymns and has been highly confidential till date, previously
it was narrated to Durvassa by me, and he attained victory in the three worlds
after wearing this sacred armor, Samsarapavana Kavacham is highly propitious which brings immense
victory, it has Prajapathi as Rishi,
Gayathri as Chandhass, presiding deity is Maheshvara, it is recited to attain
Dharma/righteousness, Arththa/wealth, Kama/desires and Moksha/liberation from
repeated births. The recitation of this
sacred armor on Panchalaksha/five lakhs times would bring supreme brilliance,
extreme proficiency in Siddhi, Yoga, Thapas,
and valor, and the worhiper remain equivalent to me. I shall earnestly
pray to Shambhu who is benevolent, kindly protect my head, I shall earnestly
pray to Maheshvara who is mighty Lord, kindly protect my face, I shall earnestly pray to Neelakanda who has
bluish throat, kindly protect my line of teeth, I shall earnestly pray to Hara
who eradicates sins of the worshiper, kindly protect by lips, I shall earnestly
pray to Chandhrachooda who is adorned in
crescent moon on matted hair locks, kindly protect my throat, I shall earnestly
pray to Vrishabhavahana who is mounted on the celestial bull, kindly protect
back of my shoulders, I shall earnestly pray to Neelakanda who has bluish
throat, kindly protect my chest, I shall earnestly pray to Digambara who is attired in directions as
clothe, kindly protect my back portion, I shall earnestly pray to Vishvesha who is the Lord of Universe and its
living beings, kindly protect all the limbs, I shall earnestly pray to Sarvadhikshu
who is Universal preceptor, kindly protect me always, these are the glorious
verses of Banakavacham which was remained confidential all these days, whoever
reads or listens to it would attain the meritorious reward of taking holy dip
in all the sacred rivers and whoever wear this sacred armor with intense faith
and devotion would attain the same merit, whoever reads or listens to it for
Shathalaksh/hundred and lakh times would attain Manthrasiddhi.”
