The
highly propitious and glorious myths of Goddess Sri Gauri was narrated by Mahamuni Dhaththathreya to Bhargava/Jamadhagnya,
after listening to the marvelous legends of Goddess Gauri and her valor from
the illustrious Sage, Jamadagnya was in
a state of ecstasy, yearned to
listen more and more of the hundred and eight sacred names of Goddess Gauri that
are extremely captivating and enthralling which brings immense delight, it
fulfills all the desires of the worshiper and it would eradicate extreme danger
and threat, it is recited to get freed from all the troubles, threat, and
danger, it is recited in a prescribed
manner by pronouncing the sacred syllables of
‘Hram Hreem’ and followed by Vinyasa.
Dhyanam
–
I shall
prostrate before supreme Goddess Gauri, who fulfills all the desires of the
worshiper, she is mounted on the celestial vehicle lion, she has the luster of
dark blue, she is adorned in fresh alluring flower garlands, she is wielded in
Khadgam, Khedam, Thrishoolam, and Mudhgaram,
on hands, she is adorned in crescent
moon on the beautiful plait of hair, she has Chandra, Surya and Agni as three
eyes.
I shall
meditate upon Goddess Gauri who is the mother of Universe and its living
beings, she symbolizes knowledge, she is
ShivA who is beloved consort of Lord Shiva, she is divine personified as
Maheshvari who is the consort of Lord Maheshvara, she is younger sister to Lord Narayana, she is humble
and modest, she is adorned in various precious ornaments, she is mighty
Goddess, she has three eyes, she is wielded in trident, she is inseparable from
Lord Shambhu, she is adorned in crescent moon on the crown, she is wielded in
spear, she is most celebrated deity, she symbolizes auspiciousness, she is the
provider of good fortune and auspiciousness to worshiper, she is Uma and
Bhagavathi as well, she represents night, she has Soma, Soorya and Agni as
eyes, she is adorned in Soma and Surya as magnificent ear ornaments, her large
raised bosom represents Surya and Chandhra, she is Amba, and Ambika as well, she holds lotus flower on
hand, she has embodied as sacred rivers, she is firm, she is beloved of Lord
Shiva, she has attained half of the body of Lord Shiva, she is splendorous, she
is the slayer of demon Shumbha, she is wielded in Khadga, Gaga, and Kheda, she represents illustrious clan,
she is adorned in saffron colored garment, she is fond of orange colored/red
flowers, she is adorned in magnificent flag which has the luster of
Kundhapushpa, she is personified as Kali, she is personified as dreadful
Kapalini who is adorned in garland of skull, she can be formidable too, she
hold powerful sword, she is the source of action, she is most desirable, she is
youthful, she represents the sacred river Saraswathi, she is the mother Lord
Karthikeya, she is the protector of illustrious clan, she is Mridani who is the
consort of Mrida, her beautiful eyes has the resemblances to the eyes of antelope,
she has slender body, she is beloved of animals, she is worshiped by Sage
Mrikandu, she is fond of nectar, she is worshiped by Mathruganas, she is the
mother of Universe and its living beings, she symbolizes Earth and intoxicated drinks, she takes immense pleasure
in the consumption of nectar, she has fascinating eyes, she symbolizes joy,
happiness, pleasure, delight, etc.. she is the source of supreme bliss, she is
contemplated upon by illustrious Rishis and Sages, she is Manonmani who resides
in the intellect of righteous/scholars/intellectuals, she resides in the
highest peak of mountains, she is worshiped on full moon day, she is Parama,
she symbolizes Paramartha/absolute truth, she is Parathpara, she has dreadful
appearance too, she is flawless, she is worshiped by hunter clan, she is
beloved of Lord Pashupathi, she is eulogized by Vrisha/Nandikeshvara and living
beings, she is Paradevatha, she symbolizes supreme intellect, she eradicates
ill fame, he is Para who is omniscient, she symbolizes living beings/dwells as
soul in living beings, she represents living and non-living things, she symbolizes wealth and prosperity, she
eradicates miseries and perils of the worshiper, she is easily attainable for
the passionate and righteous devotees, she is too compassionate, she represents
all art forms, she is the essence of
arts, she is worshiped by Ganas, she is the mother of Ganesha, she eradicates
distress and desolation, she is supreme Goddess Eshvari who eradicates miseries
and sorrows, she is Shakthi who is seated on the majestic throne, she is
worshiped with waters from sacred rivers and highly fragrant waters, she has
great radiance, she is Mahamaya, she is beloved of Sage Mathanga, she has
embodied as Universe and its living beings, she is inseparable from Lord Shiva,
she has attained half of the body of Lord Shiva.

The
above are the hundred and eight sacred names of Goddess Sri Gauri was narrated
to Bhargavarama, which is not easily attainable and it is highly propitious, it
protects the worshiper to cross all kinds of hurdles effortlessly like floating
in the water, Sage Bhargava affirms that whoever reads or listens to it on
daily basis with intense devotion and faith would attain supreme wisdom and
knowledge, if fulfills all the desires of the worshiper, ultimately liberation
from the repeated births.
