Sri Lakshmi Chathurvimshathi Sthothram – Lyrics and meanings

The deities speaks “ we shall repeatedly prostrate before Goddess Sri Mahalakshmi who symbolizes wealth and prosperity, she is the mother of Universe and its living beings, she is absolute Bhramam, we shall repeatedly prostrate before Goddess Sri mahalakshmi who has the eyes resemblance to lotus flower petals, she has attractive face resembles to the loveliness and luster of lotus flower, she has pleasing disposition and has the appearance of fully blossomed lotus flower, her face has the luster of lotus flower, we shall repeatedly prostrate before supreme Goddess Sri Mahalakshmi who resides in the woods of Bilvavana, she is beloved consort of Lord Vishnu, she is attired in majestic silk garment, she has attractive waist line, she has high and large bosom resembles to  fruit of bilva, her highly auspicious lotus feet are crimson colored, she is adorned in various precious ornaments like anklets, armlets, bangles, necklace of precious yellow metal that spreads intense radiance, she is adorned in various precious ornaments like Mangalya and various pearl decorated ornaments all over the body, she is adorned in magnificent ear ornaments that spreads intense luster all over her lotus like face, we shall repeatedly prostrate before Goddess Sri Mahalakshmi who is dearest darling of Lord Hari, she holds lotus flower, Oh! Harivallable, kindly be gracious upon us.  We shall prostrate before Goddess Sri Mahalakshmi who is the essence of Rig, Yajur, and Sama Veda, she symbolizes wisdom and knowledge as well, Oh! Devi who is initiated from the milky ocean/daughter of ocean,  kindly be gracious and shower your auspicious and compassionate grace which is equivalent to the blessings of Lord Bhrama and Lord Rudra as well.”

Sri Shuka speaks “ In this way, Goddess Sri Mahalakshmi who resides on the chest of Lord Vishnu was eulogized by the deities, Goddess RamA who is seated with Lord Vishnu was highly pleased after listening to the deities.”


Goddess Sri Mahalakshmi speaks “ Suras who has come down from their rank and lost their glories, would regain their splendor,  with the recitation of  endless splendor and  sacred hymns of mine followed with  the veneration of  bale leaf, it would restore their glories and wealth, worshiper who recites or listens to the hymns praising the glories of Goddess Sri/Vishnuvallabha, would attain Purusharththa/Dharma, Arththa, Kama, and  Moksha.  Worshiper would attain Shriyam/wealth, Dheerghamayur/long life, Vidhya/wisdom and knowledge, Puthran/virtuous offspring, Suvarcchasa/attractive appearance, happiness, pleasures, etc.. ultimately liberation from the repeated births.”   Goddess Mahalakshmi with Lord Vishnu offered all these boons to the deities, and mounted on the celestial vehicle Garuda  and returned to Sri Vaikundham.
