Maharishi Narada speaks “ Oh! Dharmaraja Yudhishtira, Oh! Dheera/thoughtful, contemplate upon Lord Ganesha, and recite the highly propitious hymns of Sri Shanaishchara Sthavarajam as follows, Oh! Bhaskari who is born in the illustrious clan of Bhaskara, kindly protect my head, Oh! Cchayasutha who is the son of Devi Cchaya, kindly protect my forehead, Oh! Kotaraksha who have unique eyes, kindly protect my eyes, Oh! Shikhikanda who have unique matted hair locks, kindly protect my ears,  Oh! Bheeshana who is alarming, kindly protect my tongue, Oh! Balimukha, kindly protect my face,  Oh! Samvarththaka/causes mass destruction, kindly protect my back of shoulders, Oh! Bhayadha who is alarming, kindly protect my hands, Oh! Shauri, kindly protect my heart, Oh! Shanaishchara kindly protect my navel, Oh! Graharaja who is Lord of Planets, kindly protect my waist line, Oh! Ravinandhana who is the son of Lord Surya, kindly protect my all limbs, Oh! Mandhagathi who has slow gait, kindly protect my feet, Oh! Krishna who has the complexion of dark clouds, Oh! Vapu who is most admirable, kindly protect the whole Universe, and protect all those who eulogizes the endless glories and sacred names of Shauri on regular basis.  The worshiper would be blessed with permanent happiness and virtuous offspring with long life.   Lord Shani who is Shanaishchara has various sacred names such as Shauri who is the son of Lord Surya and born in the illustrious clan of Surya , Krishna/dark cloud complexioned, Neelothpalanibha/lustrous like blue lily, Shushkodhara/emaciated, Vishalaksha/broad eyes, Dhurnireekshya, Vibheeshana/terrifying, Shikhikandanibha/unique matted hair locks, he has the complexion of dark clouds/ Neela,  he is the delight of Devi Cchaya/Cchayahridhayanandhana,  his  fleeting look can be terrible as death/Kaladhrishti, he has unique eyes/Kodaraksha, he has spiky hairs on the face/ Sthoolaromavalimukha, he has long stature/Dheergha, he is emaciated/Nirmamsagathra, he is mischievous/Shushka, he has dreadful appearance/Ghora, he is appalling/Bhayanaka, he has the luster of blue/Neelamshu, he is fierce-some/Krodhana, he is wrathful/ Raudhra,  he has long mustache and beard/Dheerghashmashru, he has attractive matted hair locks/Jadadhara, he has slow gait, he is approachable/desirable, Thriptha/contented, Samvarththaka/causes mass destruction, he represents  Yama, Graharaja, Karali/dreadful, He is  Sooryaputhra/son of Lord Surya,  he is commander of planets known as  Ravi/Surya, Shashi/Chandhra,Kuja/Mangal/Mars, Budha/son of Lord Chandhra/mercury, Guru/Bhrihaspathi/Jupiter, Kavya/Shukra/Venus, Bhanuja/Shani/Saturn, Simhikasutha/Rahu and Kethu, he is the Lord of Kethu and Nairuthi, Shashi/Lord Chandra, Maruthganas, Kubera, Eshana, he is Sura, he represents  Vishnu, Hara, Ganapathi, Kumara, Kama, and Eshvara, he undertakes the function as well as imposing punishments, he is the protector of living beings ,  he is the Lord of living beings and provider of auspiciousness/wealth, kingdom etc.. he is Cchayasutha who is the son of Devi Cchaya, he has the complexion of dark clouds, he causes loss as well as abundance of wealth, he disperse the fruit of wicked and immoral acts, he also causes impediments to all the deeds of the wicked, he is contented, he is Ravinandhana who is the delight of Lord Surya, he fulfills all the desires, he has lovely appearance too, he eradicates afflictions caused by the changes in planetary positions, he is serene, he is Nakshathresha who is the Lord of stars, he is Graheshvara/Lord of planets as well , he is firm, he has controlled movements, he is mighty Lord, he has great stature, he is Mahaprabhu, Mahakala, and Kalakala as well, he represents time, he has great effulgence, he can be formidable, he represents Mrithyu, he is Adithyanandhana, he is beloved of Thrayodhashi Thithi, he is beloved of all, he represents Thithi, Thithigana, he is  Nakshathra Gananayaka, Yoga, Rashi, Muhoortham, etc.. he is Prabhu who carries out the functions of the Universe and its living beings, he is the Lord of Dhinapathi, he is fond of Shamipushpa/, he is Shyama who has the complexion of dark clouds, he is the safest heaven to three worlds, he symbolizes blue color, he is compassionate who always immerses in the righteous deeds, he has the luster of blue lotus, he eradicates all kinds of illnesses of passionate worshiper, he is divine personified, he is eulogized by Siddha and all the deities, whoever reads or listens to the hundred and eight sacred names of  Shauri who is the son of Devi Cchaya would be relieved from all kinds of miseries and grief, whoever venerates Shauri with utmost faith and devotion, especially on the day of Lord Shani, would be relieved from all kinds of afflictions of the evil effects of the planets situated on Janmalagna of the worshiper, whoever worships the idol of Lord Shauri and praise the glories of Lord Shaneeshvara with the sacred names, offers the flowers of Shami and Akshatha/unbroken yellow rice would be relieved from all kinds of sorrows and grief, and worshiper would be relieved from the all the evil effects caused by the changes in the planetary positions, whoever reads or listens to the above verses would be relieved from the  afflictions,  intense fear and anxieties, worldly bondage, various illnesses etc.. The worshiper would remain blessed with abundance of wealth and virtuous offspring.”
