Ganapathi Sthothram – Sri Adishankaracharya

 



I shall prostrate before the supreme Lord Ganesha who is seated on the fully blossomed lustrous lotus flower, beautiful face is adorned in vermilion, he has golden color complexion, attractive white tusk, four arms that hold Pasha and Angusha, and the other two in Abhaya/shelter and Varada/boon posture respectively, he has three eyes and  he is adorned in a serpent as sacred thread across the chest. I shall prostrate at the lotus feet of supreme Lord Ganesha, adorned in magnificent anklets that spread luster all around, decorated in Kireeta/crown, Hara/garlands, Kundala/ear ornaments, adorned in various precious ornaments all over the body and gem decorated sparkling Kankan resembles the sun in the early hours of dawn. I shall meditate upon the supreme Lord Ganesha who has the appearance of Gajendra/King of elephant, adorned in the marvelous Chamara that spread sheen of the precious yellow metal, he represents supreme bliss and Kshadakshara, the intellectuals and poets take great pleasure in the contemplation on his attractive form, he is the remover of serious obstacles. I shall meditate upon Thundila, who is worshiped by Virinchi/Lord Bhrama, Lord Vishnu, and eulogized by Viroopaksha, he is a precious gem formed for the Gireesha/Lord Shiva, and the Asuras and Suras as well. I shall meditate upon that supreme Lord Ganesha who is seated on the right of Lord Shiva along with Karthikeya, Goddess Parvathi, accepts initial oblation during the performance of any spiritual or religious rites. I shall reverentially prostrate before the Vakrathunda who has broken tusk, he is the Lord of Gana who is highly enthusiastic and attractive, accompanied by the Ganas with the sounds of kettle-drum, the Prabudhdha/intellectuals take great pleasure in the contemplation of his marvelous appearance, he is the provider of liberation from the repeated births.  Whoever reads or listen to the glorious verses praising the splendor of supreme Lord Ganesha would get freed from the sufferings of poverty, attain happiness and welfare in the family with children, and grandchildren, relatives and friends.
