Sri Sanath Sujatheeyam – Sri Mahabharath – Sri Shankarabhashyam
Chapter – 6 – Bhashyam – 11 - Karma for Sathvashuddhi
Sage Sanathkumara speaks “Oh! Rajan, you should
have uncertainty about is it necessary to perform the Karma? Karma should be
strictly followed according to Varnna and Ashrama Dharma. But a Bhramajjyani does
not require performing the Karma. Bhagavan Vashudeva describes elaborately “
The Jeeva who is Athmaratha/constantly contemplate
upon the supreme Bhramam resides as soul and Athmathriptha/contented, takes
immense pleasure in the Sath Chith Anandaswaroopa of Bhramam, need not perform
any Karma.” The Kavayesha/composer of the Bhramandapurana speaks “why should we
need to follow the Adhyayan/practice? What did we do with the fruitfulness of
the performance of Yajja? Why should we sacrifice the Prana in the fire?”
BhrihathBhramanopanishad says “why
should we follow the Adhyayana?”. In the Bhrihadharanya Upanishad speaks about
Karmasanyasa “Our ancestors who were highly learned had no desire for children,
what did we earn with the children? The intellectuals constantly take pleasure
in the ‘Athman’/Athmarathi, are free from Puthraishana/desire for children,
Viththaishana/desire for wealth, and Lokaishana/interest in worldly matters,
hence they freely wander around and live on alms.” The Laingathaththva speaks “The Yogi who is
contented with the nectar-like Gnana, and Krithakrithya/self-contented has no
Karma left to perform. If so, then he is not Thaththvajjani.” The Atharvanashruthi speaks “The destiny does
not spare anyone, but destiny cannot create hindrance in achieving supreme
wisdom.” Who should perform the Karma? The Ajjani who desires Shreyass
should sincerely follow all the Karma and all the time. Krishna speaks to
Arjuna “Oh! Arjuna, I have already told you there two types of Nishta/disciplines,
and they are Gnanayoga and Karmayoga. The Sankhyas practice Gnanayoga and
achieves that supreme Bhramam, the Yogi performs the Karma and achieves the
Bramham. The ascetic who engaged in Yoga, the Shama becomes Karana. Yogi who is
desirous to achieve higher status the Karma becomes Karana.” Bhagavan Sathyavathisutha/Vedavyasa speaks “Veda
elaborately describes Pravriththimarga and Nivriththimarga as well.”
