Sri Sanathsujatheeyam – Sri Mahabharath - Sri Shankarabhashyam – Bhashyam – 30 - 31 How to win over the Mrithyu? The Mrithyu can win over only with the knowledge of ‘Athmajjanam’/Bhramajjanam

Chapter 18 - Bhashyam –  30 - 31  How to win over the Mrithyu? The Mrithyu can win over only with the knowledge of  ‘Athmajjanam’/Bhramajjanam

I shall describe how to win over the ‘Mrithyu’, that has repeated cycle. The learned does not get anxious about ‘Mrithyu’, they constantly engage in the process of learning ‘Athmajjana’ and becomes the ‘Athman’ which has the nature of supreme bliss and free from afflictions. The ignorant Jeeva takes shelter in the interest in the worldly matters and bondage, which is the darkness of ignorance, approaches miserable ‘Mrithyu’, they constantly undergo miseries and sorrows of worldly existence.  On the other hand, the Aththmajjyani with the knowledge indestructible Paramathma Paramabhramam resides as a soul in the Jeeva, loses interest in the Vishayavasthu, get relieved from the ‘Mrithyu’, hence the Ajjana is the ‘Mrithyu’. The lack of knowledge of the all-pervasive Paramathma Paramambhramam resides as a soul that has no death or birth, sinless, pure, unblemished, eternal, changeless, and supreme bliss is the ‘Mrithyu’.

The learned/wise/intellectuals, understands the absolute cause of ‘Mrithyu’ as ‘Pramadha’ born out of Kama, Krodha, Lobha, Madha, Moha, and Mathshcharya, which is the Beeja of Sarva Anarththa/all the absurdity.  They discard interest in the worldly matter and bondage which has a short living nature/money, wealth, people, richness, fame, etc. They strive hard to achieve perfect control over sense, and earn the highest of the virtues/endurance, discipline attains union with the supreme Bhramam which is Chith/pure intellect, Sadhanandha/eternal bliss, Adhvatheeya/lack of duality, Bhramam resides as a soul in the Jeeva, hence they do not get anxious or frightened of ‘Mrityu’. The Shruthi strongly affirms “The Jeeva who immerses in the Bhramanandha/eternal bliss with the constant meditation and contemplation upon the supreme Lord won’t get scared of ‘Mrithyu’.”

I shall describe how did the Athmajjyani get rid of the fear of Mrithyu? The Jjyani/learned one achieves the knowledge of the supreme Bhramam resides as a soul in the Jeeva,  is all-pervasive, unblemished, pure, changeless, eternal bliss and it is the single source of the functioning of Prana, Ahamkara, mind, intellect, Panchaprana, Karma, and Gnanendhriyas of the Jeeva, hence the learned takes shelter in the supreme Bhramam resides as soul which is none other than indestructible Purusha, eventually he loses interest in the destructible Prakrithi /material matters, wealth, possession, fame, money, attachment to people, etc. In this way, the learned get rid of ignorance/Ajjana, and achieve the state of perpetual bliss/Amrithaththva/immortality.  The Namamahodhadhi describes “The learned one, with the profound knowledge of destructible Prakrithi and indestructible Purusha, attains union with the supreme Bhramam/Purusha and remains Vajra/unconquerable keeps away from the interest in worldly matters and bondage, and courageously fight against the impurities like Kama, Krodha, Lobha, Madha, Moha, and Mathshchaya, he is famously known as ‘Mrithyuhantha’ ‘Mrithyughathaka’/killer of Mrithyu.
