Chapter 17 - Bhashyam – 28 & 29 - The difference between Athmajjyani and an Ignorant
Sage Sanathkumara speaks “Oh! Rajan, the
life of the Jeeva who constantly chases after material welfare and happiness
become unfruitful, and it is a mere waste to carry such a body which has not
utilized to achieve the knowledge of all-pervasive Bhramam resides as a soul in
it. Oh! Kshatriya, the Jeeva who is not striving to make the most of his body to
achieve the Paramarththa Thaththva of the supreme Bhramam which is eternal,
pure, unblemished, all-pervasive, has neither death nor birth and it is free from
afflictions remain Ajjani/Vishayavishandha who has drenched in the toxic
poison like interest in material matters, people, wealth, money, fame, richness,
possessions etc. which has impermanent/short-living nature, and forgets the
nature of ‘Self’/Paramathma Parambhramam resides as soul, they live a life like
the Vyaghra/tiger made out of grass/dummy. Their life is meaningless, lacks the serenity of mind, swollen with pride and arrogance/Kama, Krodha, Lobha, Moha,
Madha and Mathshcharya remains fearful and spends entire life in extreme
anguish and fear, it is called ‘Mrithyu’.”
Sage Sanathkumara continues “Oh! Rajan,
the ignorant Jeeva who is completely drenched in the material matters and
bondage/Vishayavishandha blindly chases after the sensual pleasure and wealth,
do not strive to recognize the ‘Athman’/Bhramam resides as soul, which is pure,
unblemished, free from miseries and sorrows, it has neither birth nor death, it
is eternal bliss, the Jeeva completely forgets the nature of ‘self’/Paramathma,
or do not understand the Adhyathmashashtra. The Veda divided into four
branches/Rig, Yajur, Sama, Atharvana, and it have six auxiliaries, known as Shadanga which is Shiksha, Kalpam, Vyakaranam,
Niruktham, Jyothisham, and Chandhass.
The Jeeva who is profound in Veda and Vedanga, even after the knowledge
in all these Shashthras, if he is Vishayavishandha/drenched in the material matters
and attachments to families, children, relatives, companions, wealth, money,
richness, fame, etc. his life is equivalent to that Vyaghra/tiger made out of
grass.”
Bhagavan Vashishta speaks “A twice-born
who have profound knowledge in the four branches of Veda/Rig, Yajur, Sama and
Atharvana, but if he did not understand the nature of supreme Bhramam, or does
not have Bhramasakshathkara/union with that Bhramam, then he would remain like the exhausted donkey that carries the load of Veda.” The body of these types of people is
unfruitful, and they remain responsible for their miserable ‘Mrithyu’. The
Krodha, Lobha, Moha, Madha, Mathshcharya instigate extreme anguish and fear in
the Jeeva. The Jeeva who is drenched in
the impurities like lust, desire, greed, jealousy, and anger do not realize the
presence of Athman/Paramathma, Bhramam resides as the soul is the enemy of him. The
Jeeva who is Ajithendhriya/who has no control over sense, drenched in Kama,
Krodha, Lobha, Moha, and Madha, Mathscharya is held responsible for his own ‘Mrithyu’. The Jeeva is none other than Paramathma
Parambhramam, the Athmajjani immerses in the ‘Athmarathi’ union with that
supreme Bhramam which is supreme bliss, on the other hand, the ignorant Jeeva
drenched in the interest in worldly matters and attachments to families, children,
relatives, companions, wealth, possessions, fame, richness, etc. undergoes
constant miseries and sorrows ultimately hurl into the vicious cycles of
repeated births.
