Chapter – 25 – Sri Vinaya Patrika – Hari Shankari/praising the splendor of Hari and Hara in
order to affirm Hari and Hara are not different
Sri Tulsidas Maharaj speaks “Bhagavan Vishnu
resembles colossal wood fire that destroys the Dhanavaroopi forest, he is the
storehouse of virtues, symbolizes Sathvik nature, and has perfect control over
sense. The Supreme Lord Vishnu is
absolute Bhramam/Paramathma/indestructible Purusha/Avinashi has neither birth nor
death, unblemished, pure, and supreme bliss resides as a soul in the Jeeva and
initiates the functioning mind, intellect, Chiththa, Ahamkara, Panchaprana, Karma, and Gnanendriya. Bhagavan Shambhu has various sacred names such as Shankar,
Rudra, Shiva, etc. he symbolizes auspiciousness, he is mighty Lord also
Krodharashi/known for fierceness. Bhagavan Vishnu is eternal/Ananth, symbolizes
six types Aishwarya/auspiciousness, he is the source of supreme bliss, removes
fear and anguish of death. He is Lakshmipathi who is the source of welfare and
auspiciousness to the Samastha Bhramanda. Bhagavan Shiva is the Lord of Mount
Kailash, he is the Lord of the Universe, he is Eshana who is the abode of Vijjanaghana, Gnana, and Moksha. Bhagavan Vishnu incarnated as Vamana and
crushed the pride of demon King Bali, and measured the whole Universe in three
strides. He is Paramathma Parambhramam inseparable from Prakrithi/Maya, he is
Mayapathi resides as a soul in the Jeeva, he has no specific appearance, he is
beyond mind and intellect, he is absolute Bhramam free from afflictions, he is
the Lord of living and non-living things, he is the Lord of Paraloka. Bhagavan
Shiva is the Samharakarththa/performs the function of destruction, he is
adorned in the crescent moon on matted hair locks, holding Trishool, he is sinless,
he is Ajanma/Parambhramam, Akhanda Sacchidhanandaswaroopa Paramathma, he has the celestial bull as the vehicle. Bhagavan Vishnu has the complexion of freshly formed
dark clouds, he has a most charming appearance, attractive limbs excel the beauty
of several Kamadeva, his beautiful eyes have the resemblance to lotus flower
petals, he is the ocean of compassion, he is supreme Bhramam resides as a soul in
the Jeeva. Bhagavan Shiva has the luster of conch and camphor, he has a fair
complexion, his attractive limbs are smeared in highly fragrant sacred ashes,
he is pure, unblemished, he has attractive brownish matted hair locks which is
the shelter place of sacred river Ganga, he is adorned in fresh alluring white
flower garland. Bhagavan Vishnu holds Shankha, Chakra, Gadha, Padma, Sharnga,
Dhanush and Kaumodhaki, he is attired in magnificent yellow silk garment. I
shall prostrate before Bhagavan Shiva resembles a fierce lion that attacks the
Kamadevaroopi untamed elephant, he has Surya, Chandra, and Agni as three eyes,
he destroys the illusion, and ignorance in the Jeeva. Bhagavan Vishnu
incarnated as Krishna, and performed various amusements, he crushed the pride of
serpent Kaliya, he killed Kamsa and numerous haughty demons, he is the abode of
kindness. Bhagavan Shiva is attired in the skin of an elephant, he destroyed the
pride of Thripurasura, he resembles Garuda to the Andhakasuraroopi serpent.
Bhagavan Vishnu is Poornnabhrama Paramathma Parambhramam resides as the soul is pure, unblemished, has neither birth nor death, free from afflictions, and eternal
bliss. He is all-pervasive Bhramam, which is beyond Time, he is supreme Lord
and most promising to his devotees, resemble Gnanaswaroopa, he is beyond mind
and intellect, indescribable and incomparable, he removes the accumulated
attributes/Vasana such as Sathvik, Rajasik, and Thamasik in the Jeeva. Bhagavan
Shiva is Umapathi, he is the cause of the Universe and its living non-living
things, he resembles the Vajrayudha to the pride of Jalandhar Roopi mountain,
he destroyed the Yaga of Dhakshaprajapathi. Bhagavan Vishnu is Bhakthavathsala,
too lenient to his devotees and fulfill all their desires like Kamadhenu, he
destroys the sufferings and miseries of worldly existence, he is supreme Lord
Hari. Bhagavan Shiva is an ocean of mercy, provides whatever boon desired to his
devotees, he is the provider of happiness and welfare, he is supreme ascetic,
free from afflictions, dispassionate and pure from impurities of Kama, Krodha,
Lobha, Moha, Madha, and Mathshcharya, he blissfully resides in the sacred land
of Anandhavan/Kashi. These glorious verses praising the splendor of Hari and
Hara would remove the impurities of the mind in the worshiper, interest in
worldly matters and bondage, body and I consciousness, and it’s the gateway to
happiness and Shivaloka and Vishnulokaprapthi. I Tulsidas sincerely sing in
praise of Lord Hari and Lord Hara which is the stairs to eternal bliss.”
