Chapter -42 -Sri Vinaya Patrika - The significance of Ramanama Japa
Sri Tulsidas Maharaj speaks “Oh! Tongue,
kindly practice the recitation of sacred names of Rajarajeshwara Sri Ramachandra, it is an
asylum for destitute and hopeless Jeeva, it is an aid to those who have no one
to guide. It is the fortune to the hopeless, and virtue to the virtueless.
Whoever practices the recitation of Ramanama becomes fortunate and virtuous, get
rid of impurities of mind such as Kama, Krodha, Lobha, Moha, Madha,
Mathshcharya, body and I consciousness, it would lessen the interest in worldly
matters and bondage. It provides honor to the Jeeva who constantly recites the
Ramanama, and it is the wealth of the noble-souls, whoever recites the Ramanama
with intense devotion and faith would achieve birth in higher clans, it
provides honor to the Kulaheena/Jeeva born in the lowly clan, whoever practice
the recitation of Ramanama would get rid of obstacles and severe trails
effortlessly, the Veda and sacred scriptures affirm the compelling effects of the
recitation of Ramanama, it encourages the Jeeva to face even the worst
challenges of the worldly existence, it works as most considerate and compassionate parents to
the Jeeva, it is the protective shield to the wretched Jeeva. The practice of
recitation of Ramanama would protect the Jeeva from the sufferings of worldly
existence, and make them experience the perpetual presence of the Supreme Lord
all through the walks of their life. Ramanama purifies the Pathitha/sinners,
ignorant Jeeva and there is no superior cure for the sufferings of worldly
existence. The practice of recitation of Ramanama deepens the ‘Bhakthi’/devotion
in the Jeeva and destroys the illusion/ignorance, attachment to material
matters, possession, richness, fame, wealth, money, children, wife, companion,
relatives etc. that has impermanent nature causes constant grief and agony.”
Sri Tulsidas Maharaj continues “ Oh! Mind,
if you sincerely follow my words, and fall in love with the recitation of
Ramanama, it would do good to you. It would keep you protected from the
chillness of miseries and sorrows of worldly existence, it would remove the ignorance,
attachment to material matters/Prakrithi which is destructible nature. The evil
effects of the Kali era prompt the Jeeva to engage in immoral deeds of Kama, Krodha,
Lobha, Moha, Madha, and Mathshcharya, the constant recitation of Ramanama would
chase away all those impurities. The recitation of Ramanama would inspire the
Jeeva to undertake austerities, vow, Japa, Thapa, Sadhana, Shamadhamadhi,
Vairagya, Gnana, Bhakti, Virakthi, etc. that would erase the results of sinful
Karma wrote on your forehead by the Vidhatha, in the sense all your sinful
Karma would leave you forever. If you consume the Ramanamaroopi Laddu soaked in
the nectar-like devotion, all that you experience is eternal bliss, after
this, you need not wander all over in search of pleasure or chase after material
things or people in search of happiness. The Ramanama is Kalpavruksha, whoever
takes shelter underneath the divine tree would get satisfied with all their desires.
Oh! Tulsidas, practice the recitation of Ramanama Japa with sincere devotion and
faith, whether you practice it for Swarththa/to fulfill personal motives, or
Paramarththa/Dharma, Artha, Kama, and Moksha, I assure you that it would fulfill
all your desires.”
