Chapter
- 71 -Sri Vinaya Pathrika - The
significance of Bhakthi, Gnana, Vairagya
Sri Tulsidas Maharaj speaks “ Oh! Mind, if
you want to restore the shrine of Lord Raghunatha built in your heart, listen
to me carefully. Oh! Mind, all you need to remember the mercy and love showered
in abundance by the supreme Lord from the day you have deposited in the womb of
your mother, and the growth you have achieved each and every second under the constant
care and protection of that supreme Lord, and the struggles you have gone
through in your mother’s womb. Oh! Mind, abandon your Ahamkara, Mamakara, lust,
desire, ego, pride, jealousy, arrogance, anger, and attachment on the material
matters, people and possession, and sincerely undertake the austerities, Japa,
vow of celibacy, silence, Shamadhamadi, Sathyam, Dhaya, Shaucham, Swadhyaya,
Athmavichara etc. and selflessly serve Lord Raghunatha, preceptors, and Santhvrindh.
Oh! Mind, get rid of Dhvandhabhava/the dualities of happiness and sorrow,
respect and disrespect, gain and loss, grief and joy, then all your troubles
will disappear. Oh! Fool, the body you have taken pride in it is a mere mass of
secrete and has fleeting nature, it undergoes aging, illness, and finally meets death.
The pride you have built in the possession of material matters and attachment to
wife, children, relatives, and companion are under the strong seize of ‘Time’,
and it is impermanent. I am Tulsidas, have already taken shelter at the lotus
feet of Sri Raghunath, Oh! Mind, stop acting like a fool, Kapata Samadhi,
performance of religious and spiritual rite to show off, it won’t help to
achieve Lord Raghunatha, therefore serve the lotus feet of Raghunatha with pure
love and devotion.”
Sri Tulsidas Maharaj continues “I have realized
that I have no true devotion and love at the lotus feet of Raghunatha, because
I have not practiced Bhakthi, Gnana, and Vairagya. I have not achieved any of these
not even in my dreams, I have completely drenched in the interest in worldly matters
and bondage, I have constantly chased after material and bodily pleasure, hence
I did not practice devotion or observed any austerities. Whoever practiced pure
love and devotion at the lotus feet of Lord Ram, would easily abandon the
interest in worldly matters and bondage, get rid of interest in Shabdha,
Sparsha, Rasa, Roop, and Gandha. The Jeeva who is bitten by the Kamaroopi
venomous serpent won’t find any dislike to Vishayavisha of Samsara, they keep
chasing after the material welfare and bodily pleasure does not get discouraged,
even after getting severely battered by the constant grief, humiliation, pain
of separation and loss of wealth and possession, etc. I feel pity for those
ignorant Jeeva, and I am deeply worried about them. Oh! Tulsidas, the grief and
sufferings of worldly existence cannot get destroyed without the grace of the Lord
Sri Ramachandra.”
