Sri Vinaya Pathrika – Sri Tulsidas Maharaj – Ramanama Mahima - Sharanagathi

Chapter - 102 -Sri Vinaya Pathrika  – Ramanama Mahima -Sharanagathi

Sri Tulsidas Maharaj speaks “ Oh! Prabho, your sacred name ‘Ra Ma’ is capable to provide Bhukthi and Mukthi as well, kindly sprinkle your Kriparoopi water upon me, which is extremely difficult to achieve. Oh! Prabho, I am that Chaktha yearning to soak in the droplets dripped from the Swathinakshthra like your Kripa. My mind and intellect/Chiththaroopi child yearn to quench its thirst from the droplets of the Premaroopi Swathinakshthra resembles permanent bliss. Oh! Prabho, Kala/Time, and Karma/deeds are constantly playing tricks on me to commit various sins, so that my mind and intellect turned away from you, whenever the time and deeds are not in favor of me, creates an obstacle to meditation and contemplation at your lotus, I feel anxious, getting deeply disturbed, like the fish thrown out of the water for a few seconds, and when it returns to water, gets thrilled and dives in joy. Oh! Prabho, I don’t deserve to compare myself to those fishes, my devotion and faith is not firm, because I haven’t practiced any worship of you, or I haven’t learned Vedathrayi and Vedantha or I have not taken up any austerities, Tapasya, Japa, vows, or I have not practiced Sathyam/truthfulness, Dhaya/kindness, Shaucham/purity, Dhamam, Shamam, Ahimsa/non-violence, Arjjavam, celibacy, etc. I am drenched in impurities of Kama, Krodha, Lobha, Moha, Madha, and Mathshcarya, Ahamkara and Mamakara, I am soaked in the interest in the worldly matter, possession, wealth, money, richness, fame, attachment to wife, children, relatives and companion that has fleeting nature. Hence, it is impossible to count the impurities in my heart. Oh! Dearest son of Dhasharatha, the people of Ayodhya got rid of their sins and sufferings of worldly existence by reciting your sacred name ‘Rama’, I hope I can also get relieved from the Samsara by uttering the sacred ‘Ramanama’.”

Sri Tulsidas Maharaj continues “ Oh! Prabho, Oh! Sri Ramachandra, you are the only deity who easily gets pleased with the recitation of your sacred name, you are benevolent, you get easily moved to the sufferings of your devotees, you cannot bear to watch your devotees in distress. Oh! Prabho, Is there any other deity who is so compassionate and kind like you? The Rishis, Yogis, intellectuals, undertake extreme penance, austerities, perform fire sacrifices, conduct debates and discussions on the Bramham, undertake various Sadhanas to achieve your Kripa, even after all these austerities, sometimes they may find it difficult to achieve your grace. Oh! Raghunath, the Geedh/Jatayu, tribal people, Kol, Bheel, Shabari, who served you selflessly and surrendered to you, they did not perform any austerities, they loved you dearly and recited your sacred name achieved Paramamgathi.  Ravana undertook extreme penance contemplating upon Lord Mahadeva, and sacrificed his ten heads on the fire to achieve the grace of Lord, eventually achieved immense glories, Kingdom, and power. Later, you have offered all those wealth and glories of Ravana to his younger brother Vibheeshana with great humility, for his righteousness, devotion, and selfless service. Oh! Mind, you might have endless desires to fulfill, therefore, contemplate and meditate upon Lord Sri Ramachandra and take the shelter at his lotus feet, he is Kripanidhan fulfills all the desires of his worshiper.”
