Chapter – 36 - Sur -Vinaya – Pathrika – The fruitfulness of pure devotion
Sri Surdas Maharaj speaks “Oh!
Prabho, who have achieved your grace with the practice of devotion and worship
at your lotus feet, wouldn’t hurl into the Samsarasagara/ocean of worldly
existence and repeated births, or do not undergo sufferings and grief of
worldly existence of Thapathrya/three kinds of grief such as 1)Adhidheivik/
grief caused by natural calamities, famine, drought, epidemic, flood, wildfire, etc. 2) Adhibhauthik/ grief caused by the attachment and interest in worldly matters
of possession, fame, richness, money, wealth, children, wife, companion, relatives, etc. 3) Adhyathmik/grief caused by aging, illness, fear of death, separation
from beloved ones, etc. Oh! Prabho, who has achieved your grace would roam
around the world fearlessly free from the interest in worldly matters. Oh! Prabho,
you have provided immense wealth to the penniless and noble Bhramin Sudhama, you
have been with the sons of Pandu during all the crises and finally brought them
the victory in the epic battle of Kurukshetra. Oh! Prabho, you have crowned
Vibheeshana as the King of Lanka, immediately after the battle with the demon
King Ravana who was killed in the battle. Oh! Prabho, you have honored your
child devotee Dhruva with the superior status of ‘Dhruvapadham’/pole star. Oh!
Prabho, you have killed the demons Keshi and Kamsa in the fight and reinstated
King Ugrasena who was imprisoned by his own son, as the ruler of Mathura. Oh! Prabho,
Devi Dhraupadhi was humiliated in the large assembly by the sons of blind King
Dhritarashtra, finally, they miserably failed in the attempt, and Devi
Dhraupadhi was protected with your grace. Oh! Prabho, you have been impartial
to all your devotees, you have never looked upon the caste or creed, or status
or religion of your devotees, you have been kind to your sincere devotees.”
