Sri Surdas Maharaj – Sri Sur – Vinaya – Pathrika – The practice of devotion removes impurities from the mind

Chapter – 44 -  Sur -Vinaya – Pathrika – The practice of devotion removes impurities from the mind

Sri Surdas Maharaj speaks “Oh! Prabho, whoever practiced intense love and devotion at the lotus feet of the sweet little child of Nandhababa/son of Nandhababa/Lord Krishna won’t chase after the worship of demigods, like the fish thrown in the milk won’t enjoy its stay as it is in the water, plainly it can’t find happiness elsewhere other than water. Oh! Prabho, Oh! Shyamasundhara, whoever tasted the nectar-like devotion at your lotus feet would get rid of impurities of mind such as Kama/lust, Krodha/anger, Moha/desire, Lobha/arrogance, Madha/ego, Mathshcharya/jealousy, Ahamkara, and Mamakara, get rid of attachment in worldly matters, such as possession, money, richness, fame, children, wealth, wife, companion, relatives, etc. and fearlessly roam around the world in extreme bliss which is beyond description, like the speechless person enjoyed the most delicious meal, but not in a position to describe its taste. Oh! Mortals, it is difficult to explain the bliss achieved from the practice of devotion at the lotus feet of Lord Sri Hari, like the rivers and streams rushing towards the ocean won’t return. Oh! Mortals, the pure love and devotion at the lotus feet of Lord Sri Krishnachandra who has beautiful eyes that resemble lotus flower petals, steals the intellect and wisdom of the devotee, thereby the Jeeva abandons the interest in impermanent worldly matters of possession, wealth, richness, fame, money, children, wife, companion, relatives, etc. eventually get freed from the three kinds of sufferings and grief of worldly existence.”
