Chapter – 249-  Sur -Vinaya – Pathrika – The significance of the practice of devotion and the recitation of Sri Ramanama

Sri Surdas Maharaj speaks “Oh! Prabho, Oh! Sri Hari, you are Pathiththa Pavan/savior of the distressed souls, the Veda and scriptures highly praise this nature, hence I have taken shelter at your lotus feet. If you have any apprehension “ Did I liberate any grave sinner?’ I can produce the witnesses before you. The twice-born Ajamila who abandoned the Vedic way of living, elderly parents, and family and went to live with a prostitute in the forest, finally on his deathbed cried out for his younger son ‘Narayana’, thus he got liberated from the grief, none could stop him to attain your supreme abode. Oh!~ Prabho, the prostitute/Ganika did she take up any austerities, and vows? During her later years of age, she took care of a parrot bought from the devotee of Lord Sri Hari, merely listening to the recitation of Sri Ramanama, and she got liberated from grief. Oh! Prabho, the elephant Gajendra who fought with the crocodile that seized on his leg, cried out for you before he could think of anything, the crocodile got liberated, and eventually Gajendra too. Oh! Prabho, the demon Poothana arrived in Gokul disguised as a beautiful young lady, she fed you with her poisonous bosom milk, and ultimately, she achieved the supreme abode, equal to Devi Yasodha. Oh! Prabho, the Veda describes your compassion to Gheedh/Jatayu, Byadh/hunter, Vrishabasur, and many demons who approached you intending to take away your life were got liberated from the grief of worldly existence. Oh! Prabho, the wicked Dhusshasan seized Devi Dhraupadhi on her hair and brought her before the large assembly and began to remove her clothes, Devi Dhraupadhi cried out “Dwarakadheesh’, immediately you have blessed her with an abundance of clothes on her body, thus you have protected Devi Dhraupadhi and crushed the pride of Dhusshasan. Oh! Damodar, you got tied to the mortal pastel by Devi Yasodha, you ripped off the huge Yamalarjjuna tree and removed the curse on Lord Kubera's children, and liberated them. Oh! Prabho, which deity will embrace the sufferings and troubles on behalf of his devotees/servants? Oh! Prabho, the wicked Duryodhana assigned Maharishi Dhurvass along with his thousands of disciples to visit the hermitage of Pandavas for a meal during their exile from Hastinapura. Devi Dhraupadhi found nothing to serve the Rishi and his disciples, she anxiously prayed to Lord Krishna, and soon Lord Krishna reached out for their help, by merely consuming the tiny particle of green from the pitcher, you have removed the hunger of Rishi and his disciples, everyone got pleased and left the place, he might have scared of the Sudharshana Chakra. Oh! Prabho, Oh! Giridhari, Oh! Shyamsundhar, Lord Indra was annoyed at the worship of mount Govardhan, he flooded the entire Vraja with the heavy downpour, you elevated Mount Govardhan on your little finger for seven days, and protected the cows, cowherds, and the people of Vraja.”
