Sri Sita Ashtoththarashathanama Sthothram – Sri Anandharamayanam – Lyrics and meanings

Sage Agasthya speaks “ Oh! Sutheekshna, listen to me carefully, I shall narrate the glorious verses praising the splendor of Goddess Sita, it is highly propitious, hundred and eight sacred names of Goddess Sita is highly auspicious therefore whoever reads or listen to it would remain successful in their lives, worshiper would remain virtuous, fortunate, happy, healthy, wealthy, ultimately attain the supreme abode of Sri Vaikundham.”

||Nyasa: ||

The hundread and eight sacred names of Goddess Sita was composed by  Rishi Agasthya,  it has Anushtup as Chandhass, RamA as Beejam, Mathulingi as Shakthi, Padmakshaja as Keelakam, Avanija as Asthram, Janakaja as protective shield, Moolakasuramardhini as Paramamanthra, it is recited to please Sri Seetharamachandhra, in order to get fulfill all the desires.

||Karanyasa: ||
I shall prostrate before Goddess Sita, and offer humble salutation with my thumb, I shall prostrate before Goddess Sita/RamA and offer humble salutation with my index finger, I shall prostrate before Goddess Sita/Mathulingi and offer humble salutation with my middle finger, I shall prostrate before Goddess Sita/Padmakshaja and offer humble salutation with my ring finger, I shall prostrate before Goddess Sita/Avanija and offer humble salutation with my little finger, I shall prostrate before Goddess Sita/Janakaja and offer humble salutation with my palm and back of the palm.

I shall prostrate before Goddess Sita and offer humble salutation by touching my heart, I shall prostrate before RamA and offer humble salutation by touching my head, I shall prostrate before Mathulingi and offer humble salutation by touching my tuft, I shall prostrate before Padmakshaja and offer humble salutation by  touching my three eyes, I shall prostrate before  Janakathmaja, and wear it as protective shied, I shall prostrate before Moolakasuramardhini and offer salutations to all the directions.

I shall meditate upon Goddess Sita who is Vamangi /most desirable,  noble, virtuous consort of Sri Raghunayaka, she takes immense pleasure in accompanying Vipra/Lord Rama,  she has most beautiful eyes, she is protected by Vipra, she is attired is marvelous garment which has the resemblance of streak of lightning, she eradicates worldly bondage of worshiper, she  always fix her gaze at the lotus feet of  Raghava.

“I shall meditate upon Goddess Sita  who is divine personified as Vaidhehi/born in the city of Vidharbha, she is beloved consort of Raghava, she is RamA who is most desirable to Rama, she is the annihilator of demons, she symbolizes hidden gem, she is Mathulingi as well as Maithili/presiding deity of Mithila, she is the provider of happiness and contentment, she is Padmajaksha who has the eyes resembles to lotus flower petals, her eyes has the luster of lotus flower, she has beautiful smile,  she is adorned in marvelous anklets that produces tinkling noises, she resides in the supreme abode Sri Vaikundham, she symbolizes wealth and prosperity, she is the provider of liberation from repeated births, she symbolizes amorous sport, she has personified as daughter of King Janaka, she has golden color complexion, she has most beautiful limbs, she speaks pleasantly/sweetly, she is Kushambika, she symbolizes auspiciousness, she is the mother of Lava, she is most beautiful, her lotus feet are venerated by Hanuman, she is adorned in beautiful Keyoora, she resides in the middle of Ashokavana, she enticed demon Ravana and she was disgraced by him, she has beautiful eye brows, long and curly hair locks, she symbolizes ray of light, she represents Rajassic, Sathvik, and Thamassic nature, she symbolizes fire, she was yearned for golden antelope, she resided in the hermitage of Rishi Valmiki, she is chaste, she is Mahamaya, she is attired in crisp saffron clothe, her eyes has the resemblance to the eyes of antelope, her lips has the appearance of Bimba fruits, she is proficient in Dhanurvidhya/art of archery, she has pleasant disposition, she is daughter-in-law of Dhasharatha, she symbolizes sacred syllables, and intellect, she is divine personified as daughter of Janaka, she is the protector of three worlds, she has personified as Annapoornna, Mahalakshmi, Saraswathi, andGauri, she is valorous and timid as well, she is serene, she symbolizes nourishment, prosperity,  and appeasement,  she is the presiding deity of Ayodhya, she is skillful, she follows strict disciplines, she is contented, she venerates Goddess Gauri, she is RamA, she symbolizes auspiciousness, she has high and large raised bosom resembles to golden vessels, she is worshiped by Suras, she symbolizes courage, loveliness, awareness, intelligence, etc. she is brilliant, she has subtle form, she has embodied as Earth, she has attractive physical features, she is adorned in golden bangles, she is faithful wife of Rama, she is precious ornament to Raghava, she is most pleasing to Raghava, she always immerses in the service to Rama, she is adorned in marvelous gem decorated earrings,  she is positioned on the left of Rama, she takes immense delight in the company of Ramachandhra, she takes immense joy in the water sport in the river Sarayu, she is most desirable and charming wife of Rama, she has golden yellow complexion, she symbolizes piousness, she has glorious myths and endless fame, she is Kalavathi, she has beautiful neck that has the appearance of conch, she has attractive thighs, she has the gait of elephant, her soul is devoted to Rama, she immerses in the veneration of Rama, she is beloved consort of Rama, her limbs represents  lotus feet of Rama, she always immerses in the praise of Rama, she takes pleasure in the nearness and embrace of Rama, she is inseparable consort of Rama, she is the purifier of soul, she showers abundance of boons, she is Kamadhenu/divine wish fulfilling cow, she is contented always, she is Mathulingi, she is adorned in highly fragrant sandalwood paste, she is the slayer of Moolakasura.  Oh! Sutheekshna,  above are the glorious hundred and eight names of Goddess Sita, it is highly propitious, it should be recited with intense devotion and faith, it is capable to provide Bhukthi as well Mukthi to worshiper, these are highly auspicious hymns.  Whoever listens to these glorious hymns would be blessed with all kinds of auspiciousness, it should recite during the hours of dawn, and worship of Goddess Sita would fulfill all the desires of the worshiper.”

I shall always prostrate before supreme Lord Shiva who is Sadhashiva/supreme bliss and Shambhu /beneficient as well, he resides on the beautiful hermitage located on the banks of striking river packed with golden lotus flowers, hut made of leaves, he is relentlessly served by celestial bull Nandi, he has the brilliance of millions of Adithya, he is in the pleasurable company of Aparnna/Goddess Parvathi who undertakes severe penances without consuming, leaves, he is adorned in Vasuki as ornaments. I shall always prostrate before supreme Lord Shiva who is Sadhashiva/supreme bliss and Shambhu /beneficent as well, he is adorned in Jahnuja/sacred river Ganga who is the daughter of Sage Jahnu, and crescent moon which spreads extreme luster on the matted hair locks, he has Surya, Chandhra and Agni as three beautiful lotus like eyes, he is adorned in King of serpent as magnificent ear ornaments, he is always surrounded by pious and righteous people, I shall always prostrate before supreme Lord Shiva who is Sadhashiva/supreme bliss and Shambhu /beneficent as well, he is eulogized by Chathurmukha/Lord Bhrama, Aravindha/Lord Vishnu with sacred hymns, he is inseparable from  the sister of Chathurbhuja/Lord Vishnu, her eternal presence with him multiplies the brilliance of him, he is the provider of Chathurvidhaphala such as Dharma, Arththa, Kama and Moksha, he enthusiastically performs cosmic dance, I shall always prostrate before supreme Lord Shiva who is Sadhashiva/supreme bliss and Shambhu /beneficent as well, he is adorned in crescent moon which spreads extreme luster, he has pleasing smile on face which reveals sparkling line of teeth, his auspicious face releases supreme radiance, he holds Kapalam/skull on hand, he is the provider of liberation from repeated births, he always immerses in the deep meditation of Lord Vishnu, I shall always prostrate before supreme Lord Shiva who is Sadhashiva/supreme bliss and Shambhu /beneficent as well, he was worshiped by Achyutha with thousands of lotus flowers, at one point he offered one of his eyes resembles to lotus flower as a part of veneration of Lord Shiva with intense devotion, Lord Shiva was pleased at the devotion of Lord Vishnu and offered powerful discus which has the radiance of thousands of Adhithya. I shall always prostrate before supreme Lord Shiva who is Sadhashiva/supreme bliss and Shambhu /beneficent as well, he is mounted on the Earth as grand chariot, Lord Bhrama as Charioteer, Mount Meru as bow, Lord Vishnu as powerful arrows, and the chariot is pulled by four Vedas as horses, I shall always prostrate before supreme Lord Shiva who is Sadhashiva/supreme bliss and Shambhu /beneficent as well, he has personified as fierce Veerabhadhra who produces boisterous roars of lion, it horrified  Veda and the spectators of the grand Yagna of Dhakshaprajapathi, though it was alarming to the whole world, finally reinstated peace and provided shelter to all the deities who were present on the Yagna, I shall always prostrate before supreme Lord Shiva who is Sadhashiva/supreme bliss and Shambhu /beneficent as well, he has protected the son of Mrikandu/Markandeya from untimely death, he is smeared in highly frangrant musk, he has supreme brilliance resembles to nectar, he symbolizes wealth and prosperity, he has embodied as Universe and its living beings, I shall prostrate before supreme Lord Shiva who is seated majestically on the Kanakagiri/Mount Meru/golden mountain  whose lotus feet is venerated by Madhuripu who crushed the pride of demon Madhu, and all the deities, in a prescribed manner, I shall prostrate before supreme Lord Shiva along with Goddess Meenakshi who is inseparable from him, he performs marvelous cosmic dance, he has personified as Halasyanatha, he is Maheshvara whose throat is adorned in toxic venom which made the throat blue in color, whoever read or listens to the glorious verses with intense devotion and faith would be blessed with long life, good health, and all kinds of wealth and richness.

I shall meditate upon sacred river Goddess Ganga who symbolizes perfection, auspiciousness, and all kinds of wealth and richness; she is divine consort of Khandaparashu/Shiva, embodied as sacred river in order to perform various amusements, she symbolizes Veda and Vedanga and she is eulogized by them, she has embodied as sacred water course and resides on the matted hair locks of Lord Shiva which is capable to eradicate the sufferings of poverty, miseries, grief, wickedness and cruelty  of worshiper  the moment he/she witnesses the sacred water course, her sacred water course symbolizes supreme wisdom and knowledge, it imparts the knowledge of Bhramam, it eradicates the impurities like a preceptor, her powerful sacred water currents symbolizes wealth and prosperity, her sacred waters has the brilliance of sun in the early hours of dawn, she is Herambajanani who is the mother of Lord Heramba/Ganesha, her auspicious grace  has the capabilities to eradicate commotion, pride,agitation etc.. Lord Hara adorned her powerful water currents in his matted hair lock before she descending down to earth, she has descended down to Earth in order to eradicate miseries and sorrows, extreme fears and anxieties of the living beings, Oh! Amba,  Oh! Bhageerathi, you have decided to descend down to Earth with little pride, as a safest heaven to distressed and desolate people,  whoever whether intentionally or unintentionally  remembers your splendorous sacred water course which has the luster of moon would get relieved from the darkness of ignorance,  your sacred water course  is eulogized by all the deities, Oh! Amba, kindly eradicate our three kinds of sins and miseries, whoever sacrifices wealth,  prosperity and kingdom just like grass, and resides on the sacred river bank and consume the nectar like your sacred waters, would attain immense bliss  and attain highest of the status of Nirvana, in the early hours of dawn kings and chaste women take holy dip in your sacred waters, your river banks are packed with the animals and pious people and blissfully explore through the pleasure gardens, whoever remember your marvelous myths and eulogizes your glories would get relieved from sins and miseries, it is highly propitious to eulogize your glories , kindly reside in the lotus like my face at the time of departing this material world, your marvelous water course flowing sportively with great joy witnessed by multitude of people as well as mountains, you have descended down to Earth in order to eradicate the miseries and sorrows of repeated births, your sacred river bank is capable to shove off all those troubles of living beings, your sacred river banks are the dwelling place of deities, you have descended down to Earth in order to elevate the soul, you are beyond description,  you are eternal, your endless glories are capable to chase away the darkness of ignorance, you are pure, you symbolizes highest of philosophies, your sacred river banks are capable to eradicate worldly bondage.

Jagathpathe, kindly forgive all my mistakes and sins, Oh! Jagannatha, kindly eradicate repeated births and death, Oh! Rama who has the brilliance of millions of Adhithya, he is the Lord of distressed and desolate people, he is wielded in powerful bow and arrow on his lotus like hand, he is Rama who is truly compassionate, he is attired in majestic silk garments, he is adorned in gem decorated ear ornaments and various precious ornaments all over the body, his beautiful eyes has the resemblance to lotus flower petals, I shall meditate upon supreme Lord who is the cause for the origin of Kamalothbhava/Lord Bhrama. I shall meditate upon Lord Rama who has powerful arms, he is the beloved consort of Goddess Janaki, he is Ramanatha and Ramanathmarama who is beloved of all, he is Vishnu who is personified as Rama who is the delight of Goddess Sita, he is Ramaramana who was born in the illustrious clan of Raghu, he is Rama who is flawless among the men, he is too compassionate,  he is the source of creation, preservation and destruction at the end of Yuga, he is Rama who is the delight of Dhasharatha, he is Hrishikesha who is the Lord of senses, he is Rama who is the beloved son of Kausalya, I shall repeatedly prostrate before Jagathpathi who is Ramapathi as well, he is Dhasharathi who is eternal, he is Vedapathi and Devapathi as well, he is Makhapathi who is the Lord of fire sacrifices and Dharapathi/consort of Goddess Earth as well, he is Dharmapathi who is the Lord of righteousness and Seethapathi who is the Lord of Goddess Seetha  as well, he is ocean of mercy and he is most charming, I shall prostrate before Rama who is Ramachandhra andRamabhadhra  as well,  Oh!
