Sri Vishnu Sahasranamam !! Lyrics & meanings –Sthothram 1 – 10



Jai Sriman Narayana !!












I shall prostrate before  supreme Lord Vishnu who has embodied as Univese, he is the preserver of Universe,  he is omnipresent, he is eulogized with sacred Vedic hymns during  Yagna procedures, he is omniscient who is aware of  past, present and future, he is the cause for the creation and destruction of living and non-living things in the Universe, he is the preserver of Universe, he resides as soul in living beings and he is the source of  creation and preservation of all the elements. I shall prostrate before supreme Lord Vishnu who is unblemished, he is the Paramathman who is universal soul, he is the ultimate object for the pious who earn for liberation, he is eternal, he has manifested as Purusha, he witnesses everything happening in the Universe, he is eternal, he resides as soul in living being.  I shall prostrate before supreme Lord Vishnu who is attainable only through Yogic practices and Yogis who are prominent in Yoga.  He is  supreme soul embodied as Purusha, who has embodied as  half lion and half human/Narasimha, he is Sriman who carries Goddess Sri Mahalakshmi on his chest, he is Keshava who has long beautiful curls of hair,  he is Purushothama who is flawless.  I shall prostrate before supreme Lord Vishnu who is the origin and source of  living beings, he is unblemished, he absorbs  all the living  beings at the end of Yuga,  he is void of changes,  all the living being immerses into him at the time of deluge,  he incarnates at his own will, he  disperses the fruits of Karma of living beings,  he is the preserver of Universe and it living beings, all the elements originated from him, he has various manifestations,  he is Ishwara/supreme deity.  I shall prostrate before supreme Lord Vishnu who is self manifested/swayambhu, he is Shambu/who bestow auspiciousness to his devotees, he represents Lord Aditya, he is Pushkaraksha whose eye has the resemblance to lotus flower petals, he is Mahasvana who is originated from the sacred sound of Veda, he has no birth or death, he is primordial, he preserve the Universe,  he is Vidhatha who disperse the fruit of Karma of living beings and he is the ultimate source of the existence of Universe and its living beings.  I shall prostrate before supreme Lord Vishnu who is Aprameya/ immeasurable, he is beyond human senses, he is Rishikesha who  has perfect control over senses, he is Padmanabha, who has lotus flower on his navel which holds the Universe,  he is Amaraprabhu who  is eternal/immortal,  he represents Vishwakarma who is  celestial architect of the deities, he represents Manu,  he is Sthvashta who devour all the living beings at the time of cosmic deluge, he is eternal. I shall prostrate before supreme Lord Vishnu who is not perceivable through sense organs, he is eternal, he has personified as Krishna who is supreme conscious and bliss, he is Lohithaksha whose eyes are crimson colored, he is the destroyer of evils, he is omnipresent and omnipotent, he possess exceptional virtues, he preserve the three worlds and ensures the existence of  righteousness, he is  purifier of  soul, he symbolizes auspiciousness, I shall prostrate before supreme Lord Vishnu, who is the preserver of Universe, he symbolizes the source of vital energy, he is most venerable,  he is Prajapathi who is the master of his subjects, he is Hiranyagarbha who is  supreme soul, Lord Brahma initiated from his navel, he has embodied as Earth, he is Madhava who is consort of Goddes Mahalakshmi, he is Madhusoodhana who is the destroyer of demon Madhu, I shall prostrate before supreme Lord Vishnu, he is Ishwara who is omnipotent, he is extremely valorous, he is wielded in powerful bow Sharnga, he is profound  in scriptures, he is extremely valorous mounted on the King of birds Garuda, he is  supreme Lord who has various manifestations, he is the source for liberation from repeated births,  he is unparalleled, he is omniscient, he is the  destroyer of demons,  he gets easily pleased with the simple offerings by the devotees.  I shall prostrate before supreme Lord Vishnu who is Sureshwara/Lord of Suras, he eradicates sorrows and distress, he is supreme bliss , he is the source of Universe and its living beings, he has great effulgence, he represents year, time etc..  He represents lion,  he is supreme consciousness with wide perception, he is eye-witnesses of all that happening in the Universe.
