Soundarya Lahari by Sri Adi Sankara !! Lyrics & Its meaning 61 – 70 !!

|| Jai Sriman Narayana ||

|| Shankara ||

Oh! Goddess Sri Shakthi, Oh! Pride of Giri clan, your beautiful nose that resembles the thin piece of  bamboo shall provide us appropriate fruit as your blessings.  Your nose is a storehouse of precious pearls; the nose stud on your nose is a set of such marvelous pearls breathed out through your left nostril.

Oh! Goddess Sri Shakthi,   I shall envision your beautiful smile and stunning rows of teeth through your blood red lips, I could compare the beauty of it to the fruit of coral creeper which has large, fleshy and hard skinned fruit.   But that too will hang its head hung down in utter shame, due to the failure in imitating the color of your lips and for being compared to its exquisite beauty.

Oh! Goddess Sri Shakthi, The Chakora birds feels that their tongues have turned out insensitive by continuous consumption of elixir of nectar like light emanating from your moon like face, afterward for an acerbic taste they have decided to consume the brilliant rays of full moon day.

Oh! Goddess Sri Shakthi, Oh! Janani, your tongue has the color of the hibiscus flower, which recites the sacred hymns praising the glories of your consort Lord Shiva.  Goddess Sri Saraswathi resides at the tip of your tongue, though she is attired in white sparkling color, soon it turns out the color of ruby due to the astounding color of your tongue.

Oh! Goddess Sri Shakthi,  All the deities, Lord Subramanya, Lord Vishnu and Lord Indra returned after a fierce battle with the demons, they have removed their protective shields and armor.  They do not prefer to consume the leftover of Lord Shiva that was exclusively belongs to Chandikeshwara, so blissfully swallowing the half chewed betel with camphor offered from your mouth.

Oh! Goddess Sri Shakthi, You shudder your head attractively, utter the words in great joy and appreciation while listening to the melodious music praising the glories of Lord Pasupathi by Goddess Sri Saraswathi accompanied by the divine instrument Veena, instantly she turns off the instrument after listening to your sweetness in your voice by covering it, in order to avoid to put shame on the strings which plays harmoniously.

Oh! Goddess Sri Shakthi, Oh! Girisuthey, how can I describe the beauty of your Chin that was caressed with the tips of finger by your father Himavan with utmost affection?  And the matchless beauty of your lips, works as a grip to mirror like face and perfectly apt to be touched by Lord Shiva was often lifted in a hurry to drink the nectar from it.

Oh! Goddess Sri Shakthi, your attractive neck with the bodily hairs sanding out in passion due to the frequent embrace of Lord Tripurari, resembles the beautiful stalk of lotus flower,  the pearl garland adorned on your neck and  the sandal paste applied has become stained by the intense gratifying moment, like the stalk of lotus get dirtied in mud.

Oh! Goddess Sri Shakthi, who is proficient in Gathi, Gamakam and Gita that are essential parts in of any music, the three auspicious lines on your neck reminds the sacred thread tied around your neck during your marriage, it also exposes the three essentials of Shadjamam/Sa, Madhyamam/Ma and Gandharam / Ga of music.

Oh ! Goddess Sri Shakthi, The one of the Trinities Lord Brahma who was born out of lotus is frightened of the sharp finger nails of Lord Shiva who vanquished the demon Andhaka and plucked out one of the heads of Lord Brahma, he eulogized the beauty of your four attractive and merciful hands which resembles the lotus flower stalk, seeking protection of his remaining heads.
