Oh! Mortals, meditate upon supreme Lord Pashupathi/ Girijapathi who is the consort of Indhu/Goddess Sri Parvathi, he is the Lord of the Universe and consort of Goddess Sathi, he is the commander of the world of Uragas/serpents, he is the destroyer of sorrows and grief of passionate devotees. Oh! Mortals, meditate upon supreme Lord Pashupathi /Girijapathi when Lord Yama/death approaches, none of your family members or father or mother or brother or children will not come for your rescue, therefore eulogize the glories of Lord Pasupathi.  Oh! Mortals, meditate upon supreme Lord Pashupathi who is the consort of Goddess Girija/Girijapathi, he is prominent in the usage of Damaru and percussion, he is highly proficient in performance of Panchamanadham, he is worshiped by the Bhoothaganas.  Oh! Mortals, meditate upon supreme Lord Pashupathi who is the consort of Goddess Girija/Girijapathi, he is the safe haven for his passionate devotees, he is the provider of happiness, he is eulogized as ‘Shiva Shiva’ by his ardent devotees, he is the provider of protection and he is the ocean of mercy.  Oh! Mortals meditate upon supreme Lord Pashupathi who is the consort of Goddess Girija/Girijapathi, he is decked in garlands made of skulls and venomous serpents, he has divine bull as symbol on his flag, he has fair complexion, and his body is smeared in sacred ashes.  Oh! Mortals, meditate upon supreme Lord Pashupathi who is the consort of Goddess Girija/Girijapathi, he caused destruction of Yaga of Dhakshaprajapthi, he is Lord Chandhrasekhara/decked in crescent moon on his crown, he is the provider of auspiciousness to the virtuous people who performs Yaga and Yagnas, he dissolves Suras, humans and all the living beings at the end of each Kalpa.  Oh! Mortals, meditate upon supreme Lord Pashupathi who is the consort of Goddess Girija/Girijapathi, become conscious of your excessive pride and ego and understand the dreadful nature of the world of Samsara which is filled with numerous perils, repeated birth, aging, death and constant fear.  Oh! Mortals, meditate upon supreme Lord Pashupathi who is the consort of Goddess Girija/Girijapathi, he is worshiped by Lord Vinshu, Lord Bhrama, and all the deities, he is venerated by Lord Yama, Lord Kubera, Lord Varuna, he has three eyes, he is the Lord of the Universe. Whoever reads or listen to the glorious verses of Sri Pashupathi Ashtakam with utmost devotion and faith that was composed by Prithvipathi Soori, the worshiper would attain the abode of Lord Shiva.
