Rishi speaks
“ Thousands of sacred names of Lord Rudra are the essence of Veda, it was
composed by Thandina who sprang from the Yoni of Bhrama, and it was narrated to
the devoted disciple of Sutha, these thousands of sacred names are
highly propitious which could provide abundance of meritorious reward to
Bhramin who recites or listens to it.”
Sri Sutha
spoke “Supreme Lord Rudra who dwells as souls in living beings has intense
radiance, Oh! Suvratha, carefully listen to these thousands of sacred names of
Lord Rudra, illustrious Rishis and Sages whoever listens or recites these
sacred names of Lord Rudra would attain the status of
‘Ganapathya’/chieftainship/leader of Ganas.”
I shall
meditate upon supreme Lord Rudra who is eternal and firm, he is mighty Lord who
represents Bhanu/sun/lustrous, and he is eminent / represents sacred text, he
is propitious who provides abundance of boons to worshiper, he dwells as soul
in living beings, he is most celebrated, he is all pervading and he is the
cause of the Universe, he have matted hair locks, he carries Dhanda/stick, he is
Shikhandi/thick matted hair locks, he is omnipresent and he is universal soul,
he has reddish brown complexion, he has beautiful eyes resembles to antelope,
he is Hara who dwells as soul in living beings, he is always remembered, he
symbolizes actions/function and cessation/abstinence, he is permanent, he is
unchangeable, he merrily dwells in the funeral grounds, he is divine perceptible and attainable for the virtuous, he is deserved to be venerated, he
is the source of actions, he is supreme ascetic, he has assumed the form of
human, he pretends to be intoxicated, he is confidential, he is Prajapthi/Lord
of living being in all worlds, he has enormous forms and great stature, he is
Mahashaya/magnanimous who has numerous forms, he is
Mahathma/distinguished/powerful/noble dwells in all living beings, he has
assumed the form of human with deformed,
unnatural and dwarf appearances, he is
Lokapala who is embodied as Universe, he has pleasing disposition and he is the
provider of various boons to worshiper, he is Pure, eminent and disciplined, he
is the safest haven of the people who follows austerities and strict disciplines,
he is self manifested, he is the source of function of the Universe and its
living beings, he is primordial, he is the source of Universe and its living
beings, he symbolizes opulence.
