I shall
prostrate before supreme Lord Shiva who is the greater cause of all the causes,
his eyes are reddish brown in color and it spreads intense radiance, he is
decked in King of serpent as ornament, he is adorned in magnificent
earrings, he is the provider of
abundance of boons to Bhrama, Indhra, and Lord Vishnu. I shall prostrate before supreme Lord Shiva
who eradicates miseries and distress in all the three worlds, he symbolizes
wealth, he has pleasing disposition, he is adorned in crescent moon on matted
hair locks, he is decked in venomous serpents as ornaments all over the body,
his eyes takes immense pleasure in the lotus like face of Shailendhraja who is
the daughter of Mountain, he resides in the highest peaks of Kailasa, Mandhara,
and Mahendhra mountains. I shall
prostrate before supreme Lord Shiva who has bluish throat resembles to blue
lily, he is decked in gem decorated earrings that spreads intense luster, he is
smeared in highly fragrant scents and sandalwood paste, he is smeared in sacred
ashes and decked in garlands of lotus and Mallika flowers. I shall prostrate before supreme Lord Shiva
who is worshiped by the deities in the three worlds, his long brownish matted
hair locks decked in magnificent crown, he is personified as Bhairava who have
fierce teeth and dreadful appearance, he is very attractive, he is attired in
the skin of leopard. I shall prostrate before
supreme Lord Shiva who symbolizes Yoga, he is worshiped by Yogic practices, he
destroyed the grand Yagna of Dhakshaprajapathi, he destroyed the demons of the
cities of Thripura, he removed the upper head of Lord Bhrama that was bloated
with immense pride. I shall prostrate
before supreme Lord Shiva who is attired in the skin of leopard, he undertakes
the function of creation of Universe and its living beings in each Yuga, he is the protector of Universe and its
living beings, he is accompanied by evil spirits and Siddhas, he is worshiped
by Siddha, Uraga/serpents, Graha/planets and Ganendhras. I shall prostrate before supreme Lord Shiva
who has fair complexion resembles to the milk of cow, he is charismatic, he is
beautifully smeared in the sacred ashes, he is the safest heaven to the forest
dwellers, he is observed by the half –
closed eyes of Gauri. I shall prostrate
before supreme Lord Shiva who is worshiped by Adithya, Soma, Varuna, Anila,
Gopa, and worshipers of Gopa, he symbolizes Yajja/fire sacrifices, Agnihothris
who performs fire sacrifices, and smokes of fire sacrifices, he is eulogized by
illustrious Rishis and Sages who are proficient in Rig and Sama Veda. Whoever reads or listens to the Shivashtakam
in front of Lord Shiva, would attain the abode of Lord Shiva and resides in the
association of Lord Shiva.
