I shall
prostrate before lotus feet of Goddess Narmadha, her sacred water body has great effulgence with attractive waves, she flows merrily with great water current, her sacred waters has the
capabilities to eradicate wickedness and the sins of the worshiper, she
eradicates the fear of death. I shall
prostrate before lotus feet of Goddess Narmadha, her sacred water body is the safest
heaven for fishes, she eradicates the
burden of evil effects of Kali era, she is prominent among the sacred waters,
she provides immense pleasure to all the aquatic animals such as fish,
tortoise, crocodiles, swan and Chakravaka, resides in her water body. I shall prostrate before lotus feet of
Goddess Narmadha, her sacred water body is majestic, it is capable to remove
all the sins on the Earth, her sacred waters flows with great force producing
thunderous noise destroying mountain sized sins and distress of the worshiper,
she is Jagathlaya who causes deluge at the end of Yuga, she causes intense
fear, her sacred river bank is the shelter place of son of Sage Mrikandu/Sage
Markandeya. I shall prostrate before
lotus feet of Goddess Narmadha, I have freed from worldly desires after witnessing
your sacred waters, she is worshiped by Son of Sage Mrikandu, Shaunaka and all
the deities, her sacred waters eradicate repeated births and miseries of
worldly existence of the worshiper. I
shall prostrate before lotus feet of Goddess Narmadha who is worshiped by
numerous Kinnaras, Amaras, Suras and Asuras, her river banks are the dwelling
place of numerous birds which produces melodious noises, her river banks are
the worship place of Sage Vashishta and his disciples, Pippala, Kardhama and
various Rishis and Sages. I shall
prostrate before lotus feet of Goddess Narmadha who is worshiped by
Sanathkumara, Nachiketha, Kashyapa, Maharishi Naradha like honey bees, she
provides happiness and success to the function of Surya, Chandhra, Ranthideva,
and Lord Indhra. I shall prostrate
before the lotus feet of Goddess Narmadha whose water course is capable to
eradicates innumerable sins of the worshiper, her water body is beautifully
decked with the presence of swans and cranes, her sacred waters are capable to
provide Bhukthi and Mukthi as well, her supreme abode is adorned by the
presence of Virinchi/Lord Bhrama, Lord Vishnu and Lord Shankara. I shall prostrate before the lotus feet of
Goddess Narmadha whose sacred waters originates from the matted hair locks of
Mahesha, I can hear that nectar like watcourse, your sacred water course is
capable to purify Kiratha/forest dwellers, Sutha/charioteer, Vadava/Bhramin, and Shada/fool, she eradicates severe
distress, miseries and sins of the worshiper and provides abundance of
happiness. These are the glorious verses
of Narmadha Ashtakam, whoever reads or listens to these sacred verses during
the hours of dawn, noon and dusk or at all times would be freed from all kinds
of perils, worshiper would be relieved from repeated births and attain the
abode of Mahesha, worshiper will not
face the sorrows and miseries of worldly
existence.
