Lingashtakam – Lyrics and meanings

|| Jai Sriman Narayana ||

I shall always prostrate before supreme Lord Shiva who is manifested as Lingam which is worshiped by Bhrama, Murua, and Suras, it is pure and radiant, and it is capable to eradicate all the miseries and sorrows of worldly existence.    I shall always prostrate before supreme Lord Shiva who is manifested as Lingam, which is worshiped by Deva, Rishis and Sages, and Pravara, it crushed the pride of Lord Kamadeva and Ravana and it is compassionate. I shall always prostrate before supreme Lord Shiva who is manifested as Lingam, it is smeared in rich frangrant scent, it enhances the intellect of the worshiper, and it is worshiped by Siddhas and Suras.  I shall always prostrate before supreme Lord Shiva who is manifested as Lingam, it is adorned in marvelous gems and precious yellow metal, it is decked in Phanipathi/king of serpent, and it caused the destruction of grand Yajja of Dhakshaprajapathi. I shall always prostrate before supreme Lord Shiva who is manifested as Lingam, it is smeared in vermilion and sandalwood paste, it is adorned in lotus flower garlands, and it destroys accumulated sins of the worshiper in various births. I shall always prostrate before supreme Lord Shiva who is manifested as Lingam, it is worshiped by Devaganas, it symbolizes emotions and devotion as well, and it has the radiance of crores of Adithyas.  I shall always prostrate before supreme Lord Shiva who is manifested as Lingam, it is surrounded by eight petals of lotus flower, it is the major cause for all the causes, and it eradicates eight kinds of sufferings from the poverties of the worshiper. I shall always prostrate before supreme Lord Shiva who is manifested as Lingam, it is worshiped by Suraguru/Bhrihaspathi and deities, it is adorned in various fresh alluring flowers from the woods of deities, it represents Parathpara, and it is absolute truth.  The above are the glorious verses of Lingashtakm, whoever reads or listens to it before the sanctum of Lord Shiva would attain the abode of Lord Shiva and remain in the blissful association of Lord Shiva.
