Sri Ganapathi Sthothram – Sri Adhishankaracharya – Lyrics and meanings

I shall meditate upon supreme Lord Ganesha who is elephant faced, he has the complexion of precious yellow metal, he has beautiful pure white tusk, he holds Pasham and Angusham, his two hands are Varada and Abhayahastha posture, he has powerful four arms, he has three eyes, he is adorned in serpent as sacred thread across the chest, he is seated on the fully blossomed lotus flower, I shall meditate upon the lustrous louts feet of Lord Ganesha, who is adorned in magnificent crown, marvelous ear ornaments and garlands, he is adorned in armlets and various ornaments, he is adorned in gem decorated bangles, he holds club, he has the radiance of sun in the early hours of dawn, he resembles to clear sky, he is adorned in simple anklets of precious yellow metal on the lustrous lotus feet, I shall meditate upon Lord Ganesha who has the appearance of Gajendhra/King of elephant, he has most attractive appearance, he is adorned in Chamara, he is most desirable, he has most pleasing personality, he is supreme bliss, he resides on the intellect of wise/learned, poets, he eradicates severe perils and troubles of the worshiper, he symbolizes sacred syllables of Kshadakshara, I shall meditate upon Thundhila/Ganesha  who is worshiped by Virinchi/Lord Bhrama,  and Lord Vishnu, he has unique eyes which has been eulogized widely, he immerses in the meditation of Gireesha who is Lord of Mountains, he is most promising to Suras and Asuras as well, he is beloved son of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvathi, he is fond of  veneration with fire sacrifices and righteous deeds, I shall always reverentially prostrate before supreme Lord Ganesha who has curved tooth and broken tusk, he is the commander of Ganas, he is void of impurities like ego, pride, lust, greed, desire etc.. he eradicates impurities in worshiper, he has most pleasing appearance, he resides on the intellect of wise, scholarly, intellectuals, he is blissful who keeps quivering the wide and large ears in delight, he is the provider of  renunciation from worldly desires and Mukthi to ardent worshiper.



Whoever reads or listens to the glorious verses praising the splendor of supreme Lord Ganesha, with intense devotion and faith would be relieved from sufferings of poverty, worshiper would be blessed with virtuous offsprings, grandchildren, appropriate companion as wedded wife/husband, relatives and good associates.
