Neethi Shathakam – Sri Bharthruhari Virachitham– Paropakara Padhdhathi

Neethi Shathakam – Sri Bharthruhari Virachitham

Chapter – 7– Paropakara Padhdhathi

Oh! Jeeva I shall describe the nature of the Mahatmas / noble-souls and generous contributor/Paropakara, who are benevolent and most promising to others. These noble-souls are like the trees packed with full of fruits facing the Earth, they are like rain clouds that are too heavy but move unhurriedly, these Sajjanas are humble and good-natured, even after possessing an abundance of wealth. Oh! Jeeva, it is not that the rich fragrances or sandalwood paste adorned in the body or the ornaments decorated from head to toe adds glee to a person. The ears of the intellectuals’ shines with their knowledge in the Shastra and Purana, not with the ear ornament adorned. The hand shines with the performance of enormous charity, not with the bangles adorned in it. The kind-natured people’s body shines with their generosity and selfless service to others.

Lord Surya is the Lord of the day performs the functions as it was designed for him and causes to bloom the lotus flowers,  Lord Chandra spreads luster and causes delight in the Chakravaha, and the rain clouds cause to downpour, these are a natural phenomenon, no one can create obstacles in it. These Sajjanas are most promising, showers an abundance of kindness upon the helpless and distressed people, without waiting for their request or call for help. It is the inborn nature of the Sajjanas to understand the difficulties and requirements of others effortlessly and extend selfless service.

The Sathpurushas is the one, who abandons his own requirements and fulfill the needs of others, it is the superior act/Uththama and the people who perform the charities after taking care of their own needs are Madhyama. The people who always chase after the welfare of their own, and destroys the peace of others are Manushya Rakshasa, and some people find pleasure in causing trouble to others, How to name them? A sincere companion is the one who hinders the wicked deeds, the person who compel to perform good deeds, put a halt to all the unwarranted habits of others, add fame to his/her friend, do not abandon when the another person is in trouble, keep sharing good things with the friend are the characteristics of an ideal friendship/Sanmithra Lakshanam.

Oh! Jeeva, I shall describe the association with the noble-souls/ascetics, it is like the water added to the milk, that receives the whiteness as well as the sweetness of milk, when heat it on the boiling point causes the water to evaporate and diffuse in the air, immediately the pure milk rushes out of the vessel to put off the fire at the separation of water from it, if a little water sprinkled on the milk would stop to spill out and put off the fire. This is how the relationship with the Sajjana works with the Jeeva. The Sajjanas are powerless to watch the difficulties of the Jeeva depend on them, these Sajjanas are willing to sacrifice anything even their lives for the welfare of others.

Lord Keshava holds the entire Bhramanda in his stomach and undertakes Yoganidra on the milky ocean, on one side there are wicked demons waiting for their turn to harass the world, on the other side mountain-sized distressed people, on the other side the Badavagni of Mahapralaya waiting to swallow the entire creation, it is surprising to note the prowess and endurance of the vast ocean to hold all these on its surface. Oh! Jeeva, these Sathpurushas are like that vast ocean with great prowess and endurance. These Mahatmas are well capable to hold the weight of the entire Bhramanda on their shoulder, like the Koorma. Druva undertook extreme austerities and penances and attained the status of the indestructible pole star, hence all the stars circumambulate the Druva with reverence. The people who are least interested in the welfare of others would remain neither in the surface nor in the Pathal Loka and they take several births as the worms in the fruit like Bhramanda. These kinds of Jeeva is a burden and utter shame on the Earth, have no use of them for the society or its people.

Oh! Jeeva I shall describe the virtues of Sajjana, 1) They do not take pleasure in other’s wealth 2) They have great endurance 3) They have complete control over sense, especially on their pride 4) They are truthful 5) They do not engage in immoral deeds 6) They strictly follow disciplines 7) They respect and depend on the scholars and intellectuals 8) They respect people who deserve to be treated well in the society 9) They remain amicable to their preceptors 10) They keep up the respect of the clan 11) They are kind and promising to  distressed  people 12) They extend selfless service and support to the intellectuals and scholars 13) They will not have enemies. These Sajjanas engages Sathkarma with mind, words, and deeds, they are well capable to satisfy the three worlds with the nectar-like selfless services. They portrait the generosity of others into mountain size, and remain amiable always, they take pleasure in praising others and their services. Alas! These types of Sajjanas are extremely difficult to find and are very less in numbers.
