Sri Ranganathashtakam – Sri Adi Shankaracharya

 



 

Oh! Mind, contemplate upon that marvelous Srirangaroopa of that supreme Lord Ranganatha, who is supreme bliss, represents the highest of the knowledge, is the absolute Bhramam, symbolizes Shruthi. He is supreme Lord Vishnu who has assumed the most attractive form of Sri Ranga, who has a dark cloud complexion. Oh! Mind, contemplate upon those various amusements of Sriranga/Srirangaleela, of that supreme Lord Ranganatha who resides on the river banks of Kaveri, he is extremely compassionate, resides under the shade of Mandhara, he has incarnated to annihilate the demons, and for the performance of various passionate sports for the welfare of Universe and its people. Oh! Mind, contemplate upon that mesmerizing life on the sacred land of Sringa/Srirangavasa, which is the dwelling place of Lord Ranganatha along with Goddess Sri Mahalakshmi, resides in the lotus-like hearts of noble-souls, and she resides in the abode of Lord Surya as well.   Lord Ranganatha represents the abode of compassion resides in the midst of the virtuous souls. Oh! Mind, contemplate upon that marvelous Lord Sriranga, who is worshiped by Lord Bhrama and deities, he is worshiped in the whole Universe; he is worshiped by Mukunda and Suranatha/Lord Indra, Vyasa, and illustrious Rishis and Sages, and Sanakadhis. Oh! Mind, contemplate upon the abode of Sri Rangam, which is the supreme abode of Lord Vishnu, he is the Lord of Bhrama, Garuda, Sri Vaikunda, Suraraja/Lord Indra, he is the Lord of Thrilokhya/three worlds, he is the Lord of the Universe/Akhilaloka, he is the Lord of Sri Ranga as well. Oh! Mind, contemplate upon that supreme Lord of Sri Ranga, who symbolizes auspiciousness, he undertakes the finest Yogamudra and reclines on the serpent Anantha in the milky ocean. He symbolizes auspiciousness undertakes Yognidra on the milky ocean. Oh! Mind, contemplate upon that supreme Lord Rangashayi, adorned in various ornaments and reclines in an excellent posture/Sachithrashayi on the serpent Anantha/Bhujagendhrashayi, he is supreme Lord Vishnu who has incarnated as the little child of Nandabada/Nadhangashayi, he is the Lord of Kamala/Goddess Sri Mahalakshmi/Kamalangashayi, he is the supreme Lord Vishnu who reclines on the Ksheerabdhi/milky ocean, he has incarnated as adorable infant/Vatapathrashayi who reclines on the Vatapathra/peepal leaf as well. This is one of the most auspicious land on the Earth, if the Jeeva happen to shed its mortal coil does not take rebirth, therefore Jeeva take shelter at the lotus feet of Lord which brought the sacred river Ganga on the Earth, reclines on the serpent Anantha. Whoever reads or listen to the Sri Ranganathashtakam praising the splendor of Lord Ranganatha would get fulfilled all their desires; ultimately achieve the abode of Lord Ranganatha.
