Sri Sanathsujatheeyam – Sri Mahabharath -  Sri Shankarabhashyam – Bhashyam - 21–  What’s Mahamoha?

Chapter 15 - Bhashyam – 21 – What’s Mahamoha?

The ‘Mahamoha’ is a pitiable state of the Jeeva who completely drenched in the destructible Prakrithi, material matters, people, money, richness, possession, fame, etc. and forgets to realize the supreme Bhramam who is the source of the functioning of mind, intellect, Ahamkara, Prana, Karma, and Gnaendhriyas. The Mahathma and noble souls with the Avasthabudhdhi/ realization of ‘self’ and all-pervasive supreme Bhramam and the knowledge of ‘Oneness-in-all’, does not follow the Indhriyavishaya/anything which pleases the sense. Therefore they constantly contemplate and meditate upon that supreme Bhramam resides as soul, and take immense pleasure in the ‘Athmarathi’/supreme bliss, in this way, they achieve ‘Mohanivriththi’/interest in worldly matters and bondage. The ignorant Jeeva drenched in illusion, fails to understand the ‘reality’ of there is nothing other than all-pervasive Bhramam, eventually these Jeeva get soaked in the material matters, people, fame, richness, possession, money, etc. fails to understand the Sath/Purusha Paramathma Parambhramam which is indestructible has no duality, and all-pervasive.

The ignorant Jeeva gets overexcited and attached to the attractiveness of the women which is nothing other than a mass of meat, with the impurities of the intellect becomes Vishayavishandha/blind by the toxic poison of material matter, and does not understand the supreme Bhramam resides as soul. They constantly chase after the sensual pleasure, it is called ‘Mahamoha’. Bhagavan Manu says “The Kama cannot be satisfied with the Upabhoga of Kamavasthu”. It keeps burning more than ever like the ghee poured to the fire. It is the wrong concept that the Kama can be removed with the usage of Kamavasthu, it does not bring any gratification to the Jeeva, and instead, it would inspire the Jeeva to explore more in this field. It is an act of Avidhya and Mithya, and it causes to have Athyarththi/exorbitant attachment to the Shabdha, Vishaya, Rasa, Gandha, Sparsha. The Mithyarthayoga/interest in material matters and sensual pleasures would make the life of Jeeva miserable, ultimately hurls into the repeated births. The Jeeva who fails to understand the supreme Bhramam resides as the soul takes several births in the Thiryakyoni/animals.  Bhrihath Bhramanopanishadh says “ Jeeva is not independent, it cannot overrule the Paramathma Parambhramam resides as a soul in it. The three categories are Pakshi/birds, Vriksha/trees; Uraga/reptiles overruled the Paramathma and achieved life as above. In the same manner, the Kamanusari/who always chases after sensual pleasures, and take pleasure in the Sambhogavishaya, never think of the supreme Bhramam due to ignorance, finally meets destruction and hurls into Thiryakyoni. The ignorant Jeeva ruled by the Abidhya/desire, yearning for the Sambhoga, losses the good intellect, eventually, the Kama and Krodha follows, and hurls him/her into the’Mrithyu’.  Thus, the ignorant Jeeva swollen with Abidhyakamakrodha hurls into the repeated births in the Thiryakyoni, on the other hand, the intellectuals, learned and courageous cross the ‘Mrithyu’ with the constant contemplation and meditation upon the all-pervasive supreme Bhramam.
