Nyayashasthra – Chapter -5 - Chanakya Neethi – 1 - 10

Chapter – 5 – Chanakya Neethi 1 – 10

Rishi Chanakya speaks “The preceptor of the four Varnas, and wedded wife is 1) Agni is the preceptor of Dhvijathi/twice-born, Bhramin, 2) Bhraman is the preceptor of the rest of the Varna/Kshatriya, Vaishya and Shudra 3) Husband is the preceptor of a wife 4) Athidhi/guest is the preceptor of all. The precious yellow metal goes through various steps like shoved to extreme heat, hammering, and cutting, to create an exquisite ornament, in the same manner, a virtuous person undergoes trails of Thyaga/sacrificing nature, character, qualities, and deeds.  The fear has only one of its kind natures would create extreme trepidation until and unless the person is pushed to the strange and horrific situation, once the person is hurled to the situation would show extraordinary courage to stand up with it. It is not compulsory that the children born to a mother and children born with the same birth stars behave alike; it can be like the fruits of berry and thorn of berry that are an indivisible part of the berry tree. The true facts are 1) The person who is greedy chases after honor and title, a person who is free from greed does not look for admiration or title.2) The person who is free from desires do not strive to present themselves as attractive before the world 3) The person who has no experience in worldly matters do not speak about it, people who have experiences of worldly matters would give pleasant advice. 4) The person who speaks the truth would not cheat. The very common facts are 1) Moorkha/ignorant people hate the intellectuals 2) Adhama/evil person hate wealthiest people 3) Kulasthree/woman born in the illustrious clan hate prostitutes 4) ugly woman hate the beautiful woman. The deterioration is definite in the following cases, 1) The Vidhya/knowledge gets weaken due to the lack of Swadhyaya/self-study and practice, and increased laziness. 2) Sthree/women lose her chastity and virtues if not protected by parents or brother or husband or children 3) agricultural lands destroy due to the unavailability of the seeds 4) the army of the Kingdom destroys in the absence of the skilled warriors with modernized armaments.  The Vidhya/education can be protected with the regular learning and practicing, Kulamahima/fame of the clan is protected with the virtues of the members of the family and, noble persons / Arya can be recognized by their virtues, and anger can be traced out from the eyes of the person. The Dharma of a person can be known from the wealth owned, the knowledge of a person can be understood from the daily practices, and a wise King can be understood by his pleasant and intelligent talks, and the clan is protected by the chaste and virtuous women. Whoever disrespects Veda, Shastra, Purana, and disregard the rites prescribed in it, would undergo constant miseries and sorrows of worldly existence.”
